Porsche 996 2000 cab. Stalls when I come to a stop

Hi All,

This is doing my head in.

The car drives beautifully with all the power that it needs. Bought it two weeks ago and have been driving it daily.

For the past two days it has been stalling as I come from 3rd gear to second and notice a drop in revs to less than 300 rpm

then it stalls. Starts straight back up and drives nicely again. It is a tipronic.

If I slow down and roll to a stop, no problems.

I have cleaned the MAF, throttle body, checked all the hoses, cleaned the emissions thing that hangs on the left of the throttle body, checked the air filter is clean.

Any clues or ideas?

Where is the idle control valve my car does the same thing I have a 996 2000 as well. When I am driving around on the highway no problem but when, I am at the light, sometimes not everytime it stalls, then it takes several seconds for it to turn over. I have to hold the key down for almost 3 to 5 seconds, this episdoe happened last night 06 Dec 2012. Five months prior to yesterday it did this in a 20 min period, I was driving and it died around 3000rpm. i turn it over and go and it would die again. I am thinking fuel pump and or fuel filter. If the fuel pumps dies then it does't work at all right or if the fuel filter is clogged or something stops the fuel from moving is there such a thing or chunk that could do that. my last notion is water, is it possible that there is water in my fuel tank where I am at is rains a lot and when i get in the car in the morning there is condinsation in side the car, is this possible for the same thing in my fuel tank

No idle control valve on eGas cars (eGas began in MY1999 C4 and all MY2000 cars).Clean the throttle body (look for oil also) and check for fault codes.

I have clean the butterfly of the throttle body and there was this grease looking stuff on the outer edges of the butterfly. Were am I look for oil

If there is oil in the throttle body or intake tube then you likely have a bad AOS or AOS bellows.Either way check for fault codes as they will point you to the problem.

What fault codes am I looking for the only fault code I have recieved from my car is open circuit converter switch from my transmission and one from catalytic converter o2 sensor. What code should I it say if its a bad AOS OR AOS bellows

Vacuum leak? I haven't had the stalling issue but I have had 2 different cars come in the shop with lean O2 fault codes. they both ended up having broken oil filler tubes. The accordion plastic tube gets brittle and breaks.

any idea where that is exactly on a 2000 cab?

it seems to idle ok.

As I said above... No idle control valve on eGas cars (eGas began in MY1999 C4 and all MY2000 cars).

Check for fault codes as they will point you to the problem.
