Server Lease Renewal/Software Licenses - Goal Reached!

A big Thank You to all those that donated to help us reach our 2019 goal (and pay the site operating costs)!

Just an FYI - if all members of this site had donated - then the cost per member would have been less than $0.06 each.

Thanks again to all of you that did contribute!

Cab Top Stuck Open in New Jersey - Suggested Repair Shop?

Recommended Posts

The top on our '04 C4S will not move from the open position. The clamshell opens as it should, but then the process stops...no hydraulic motor sounds or otherwise from the top itself. Can anyone recommend a repair shop here in northern or central New Jersey who you would trust to do this kind of work? Thanks in advance for your help.

It appears I got lucky and figured out the apparent fix. This problem would happen only on occasion, so I never took the car into the shop to be looked at. Then a couple of weeks ago I was experiencing the same issue, and was able to close the top only after several attempts. When I got out of the car after the top has been successfully closed, the lid gasket had come entirely off and was laying on the rear of the car! (Lucky I noticed it, or I could have driven away, and it would have falIen off and been lost, and I never would have known) I re-installed it...and no more problems since then! It appears that the loose gasket was somehow interfering with the operation of the top, but I never saw it as it would be "hidden" when the top was fully opened or fully closed. I'm not really sure exactly how the loose gasket was interfering with the top closing, but if anyone experiences the same issue, one thing to check is that the lid gasket is not peeling off.
