Clarification - Including the original small tube design there are at least 4 part number/design changes to the PSE. The early small tube is obvious but the later 3 changes seem more minor. I know there were some weld fracture problems on some of the early large tube design so perhaps they changed the weld patterns. The latest large tube design just came out so I have not seen one yet. Perhaps it is using some of the 997 PSE design like thinner wall tubing and reduced weight? But like I said I haven't seen one yet so it's hard to tell.

The fabspeed prob add some hp, the pse zero, as it is nothing more than a pipe welded btwn the inlet/outlet. How could it add any power. I have GHL's on mine sound great, not too loud, not quite, just right.

I had/have Fabspeeds on my last 4 Porsches and don't reqret it at all. Easy installation; excellent build quality; stainless steel; excellent sound; less expensive. I think if you go to www.fabspeed.com you can hear the various exhausts..and Joe Fabiani is an excellent person to work with. It's better than factory IMHO (no on-off switch, however)

I would add to the heads up for the fabspeed mufflers.

I have them on my 996 Cabrio and they sound great.

When you just cruising on a light throttle there pretty quite but as soon as you nail it the sound is fantastic and I'm sure the throttle response its better.

Check out www.fabspeed.com for the video clips, don't listen to the one of the 997 with the bypass pipes, it sounds far to nice!

Had Fabs on my last Porsche - '99 C4 - sounded amazing! A little too much around town but at WOT simply awesome!

Despite my really liking the Fabs, I had the latest PSE fitted to my '02 C2 last weekend (simply to avoid potential warranty issues in the UK - Porsche GB are a bunch of a**holes compared to Porsche NA). This latest PSE (or may be v3 - not sure) is every bit as loud as the Fabs and frankly doesn't sound as sweet as the earlier versions. Can't say I'm totally disappointed but I expected something more melodious and less obtrusive. This version is also very 1-dimensional in the sound it produces. Earlier ones produced such a rich variety of sounds - this is just uniformly loud once you're on the gas.

All in all, I could take them or leave them. I think your sports exhaust money would be better spent on the smaller, lighter, less expensive Fabs. (Porsche GB's attitude not withstanding).
