So I remove my old fuel door actuator (pin) because the unlock button on the remote would only lock door but on not unlock it. I replaced it with new one and will be doing a DIY on it also. The same problem is still happening with the new part. Why would the electrical current only seem to have the actuator move in one direction only?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure i follow you 100%.

The door can only be opened when you use the switch on the door. If that fails then you can pull the safety cord.

You should be able to put a volt meter up on the wires and get someone to hit the switch to see if you have power to the solenoid. After checking the fuse of course. If no power then it could be your door switch isn't working.

There are no switches to open my fuel door as you have listed in picture #2. Mine only unlocks with the remote or door unlock. I problem is that the actuator isn't pulling the metal rod back to allow the fuel door to pop open once you push in on it. When I lock it, everything works fine. I have to do the emergency pull for the actuator to move on both the old and the new parts.

Anyone have any ideas? I have checked the fuses under the hood and both left and right sides on the dash. The switched out the actuator and still same effect (the actuator will lock the fuel door but not unlock, with the door lock or remote). Tricky!

There is a little motor inside the actuator - the control unit comfort systems rear controls both actions.

You will likely need to put a PIWIS diagnostic tool on the car and see if there are any fault codes. I think it also has a test mode where you can toggle that actuator back and forth.

If everything tests okay then they should likely try a clear and re-program of the control module.
