New owner...with issues...

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My girlfriend recently bought an '03 Cayenne S and it seems to have some issues...now I have searched this forum but do forgive me if I missed something obvious...

1. Whenever the climate control is set on 'auto' the blower runs on the second highest setting all the time even thougheverything is up to temperature and the glass isn't fogged up or anything...very annoying as it is loud as hell!

What can cause this and/or how can it be fixed?

2. Sometimes when you try to start the first turn of the key does not engage the starter even though the dash illuminates.

Bad starter/solenoid or...?

3. Sometimes you can hear a ticking noise coming from the left of the dash, sounds like seconds ticking away on a clock?! Only lasts for 5 to 10 seconds...

Any idea what causes this?

4. If the climate control is on manual you can hear all sorts of noises coming from the passengerside of the dash: whirring, clicking, knocking...sounds like two badgers having sex in the glovebox...

Checked with an OBD scanner and it gives me a footwell flap fault....

Can this cause the array of noises? And, how to fix this?

I believe the battery (this car has only one) has been changed by the previous owner very recently, could this cause some if these problems and can they reset by the dealer or.....?

Many thanks for your advice!!

Steph

Right then, the starting issue seems to have been resolved by connecting the battery to a tricklecharger wich has a 'reconditioning' feature.

Car starts up fine now everytime.

The other issues remain: I'm guessing atleast one or possibly more servo's have packed up in the climate control system wich I will need to fix because the constant noise is utterly annoying...

I would very much like your input so here's hoping I'll get a reply!

Will also check the front interiorlight-switch today, doesn't seem to work and I did find lots of postings on that so I'm very happy with the forum already!

The squeaky vents are normal to that year ( and a fews years after that) its annoying but the fix can be expensive unless your a good DIYer since there are many servo valves to be replaced across the dash. Its actually the hamsters in their exercise wheel

Check to see if there is another battery under the subwoofer underneath the trunk floor

I doubt the battery is in good shape

The auto setting thinks there is a temp mismatch with setting, the aircon control / display unit may be bad, common issue in 03

I've no subwoofer installed and there's certainly no battery in the boot of the car...

I have disassembled a Jeep Dash before to install a new aircon unit and I have also replaced a servo on a Jeep once with the unit and dash in place and I found that if you exercise enough patience it's not too hard IF you know wich one is running amok...

Is there a way to test control unit or is it usefull to remove it and refit it in order for it to reset magically or should I just try to get hold of another one secondhand?

Thanks a lot for your answers!
