I am reposting this to see if any one can help

hello, I have a 2006 cayenne s ,Does anyone know if I can just replace the driver side fuel pump without having to replace them both?

I just want to add that this cayenne s of mine has kicked my butt, It has 60k miles and I have replaced drive shaft, repaired cluster, cooling pipes and all coil packs. the latest problem that I have been having for the last

four months is that it is jerking when you accelerate it and it has loss of power especially when you give it gas for a passing lane. I gave in and took it to the Porsche dealer and they charged $200. to tell me that it was the purge valve. instead of paying the $600 charge to replace the valve I decided to order it myself and do it myself for only $85. Well that wasn't the cause so I returned to the dealer and they checked it out again for free this time with the new diagnosis of the driver side fuel pump is not working and that I have been running on the secondary fuel pump all this time. They wanted $1600 to replace both but instead I purchased the complete kit for the driver side which they told me is the primary pump. I and going to replace the fuel pump it myself.

You don't have to change both pumps.

The other pump has done the same mileage as the failed one, and therefore will probably soon fail as well.

Good time to change the fuel filter and regulator whilst your there.

You only need to replace the one pump. Also remember, while they are both the same mileage, the second pump only runs when engine load is high, start up, and when the tank get's low. That being said, there is significantly less run time on the second pump.

Change the filter, you will find it packed full of black stuff.

I wouldn't bother with the regulator change, there isn't really a reason to suspect that the regulator has gone bad, and generally they never do.

With all that being said....you will have to open both sides....so it will save you the 400ish dollars on a pump, but you will still have to open that side.
