996 Drivers seat memory ECU power to motors problem

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

New here and need advise before all my hair is gone. I am trying to wire a set of 996 seats into a VW camper van.

The passenger seat is OK as it is power only.

I only want to power the drivers side, no memory function.

I have wired power to this diagram:

I am using 12V DC supply from an electrical supply.

When power is on nothing happens......nothing...no clicks......nothing.

I found this diagram and checked the terminals with a voltmeter.

When doing this I am getting 5v to the switch and when operated 5v back from the switch....but still no voltage to motors or signal cables.

Any suggestions welcome as I may go MAD!!!

I have power onto the control unit `9black box made by LEAR). When I have power on I am getting 5V to and back from switches. I am getting 7V on the hall effect sensor at each motor. This is one of the small wires on the motor connectors. There are 4 wires in each motor connector, 2 power and 2 for sensor.

I recently fitted fully powered seats to my 996. I didn't have the memory module, neither was I prepared to buy one. The passenger side was a simple fit, the drivers side seat needed some careful thought and wiring of the switches to make it work. I have memory seats in my range rover and never use the memory function. I do, however, fiddle with the seat position......
