2006 C2S navigation map stuck on previous owners location

Recommended Posts

Howdy,  First post!

I just got a 2006 C2S and the Nav is showing the previous owners map location - never updates to my new location.  When selecting an existing destination left by p.o., it tries to Nav from this point in another state that nav appears to be stuck in.  The center arrow does move with my movements just not on any roads :D

The p.o. did trailer to my state and I read in the manual that this can require some time for the Navi to recalibrate but we're way past any time when that should have happened.

Did a reset (1 4 8) and a couple of other creative button pushes I found through search but no joy.

There does not appear to be a dvd in the navi drive.

Here are PCM numbers:

SW v3.0

PCM   : 05024AD1/0205

SysSW: 040364AD1/3604

Nav Target:/

        Actual: 00179436/3306

At this point I'm assuming I need to buy a Nav DVD, correct?

Can I buy anyone off ebay or whatever that's listed for PCM 2.1?

Thanks

I had the same type of problem on my old 2005 997 when it arrived from it's previous home.  I had my local Porsche dealer reset the NAV and it figured out the current location afterwards.

I don't think you need a new DVD just a 'hard' NAV reset.

edited:  There is a dvd in the car.  Not sure why it didn't eject last night but it did this morning.

Unfortunately, I don't have any warranty on the car so a trip to the dealer would cost and I don't think working Nav is really all that important to me.

The PCM display is showing 0 satellites so I'll check the satellite antenna connection.

That's under the front cowling, right?  Same compartment where the battery is located?

You might try a 'hard' reset by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so.

Does anything on the NAV side work? Can you set up a drive to location or see a map on the PCM screen?

I think the antenna connection (as I recall) is on the PCM unit.  You'll need to get to that by pulling the PCM out or getting a look behind it.

A 'friendly' dealer might do a 'coutesy' reset for you.

Coincidentally, I'll be changing the battery this weeked.  I'll leave it disconnected for a while.

Yeah the Nav works great except actually showing my location:  map displays, can select destinations and it gives nav directions.  Show my locaiton moving across a map in another state.

I'll update after the battery swap.

Thanks.

Rather than bump this I'll just edit:

No joy on battery disconnect either.  I'll see if I can get a courtesy reset next time I drive by the dealer to pick up some paperwork.

On the plus side, the sirius satellite is working :D

Solved:

It was the 2nd Nav antenna, the one that you have to remove the cabin filter to get to.  It had been knocked off when the cabin air filter was last changed.

IMA motorwerke in Chantilly, VA also reset the passenger side AWS sensor to clear the passenger airbag light that kicked on after I replaced the battery.
