CEL Fault Code P0507

Recommended Posts

Folks, i noticed the car was idling a little rough btwn 400-700rpms and wouldn't hold and idle smoothly at 400rpms.  I purchased an OBD scanner and pulled the above fault code. I did some searching on the site and i see similar issues pointing to MAF, throttle body or intake leak.   The MAF was already replaced about 10k miles ago.

Any other thoughts?  i have to swap the winter tires over, so will likely have the shop address it.

MY 01 996 carrera 2 ~35k miles

P0507 is a throttle position actuator code, indicating a higher RPM than expected.  While intake air leaks will cause similar problems, they typically result in other codes (overly lean mixtures).  Your throttle body may need cleaning or replacement.

Thanks JFP.  I found the DIY on cleaning the throttle body so i figured i would give it a shot. I am a mechanical imbecile but like to learn. After watching a youtube to get the air cleaner removed, i wiped out the throttle body. and cleared the CEL.  I did not have carb cleaner so just wiped it out.  I did see a brown ring. Appears t be idling better, i'll give it a few days and see if throws another code

thanks all
