Desperate! Rear boot won't open after ''Sleep mode&#39

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

My first post on the forum, and i've been reading through many...MANY posts related to this so far, but i'm still non the wiser and need help please.

I've just got back off holiday for a week, went to open my 2005 Boxster and nothing happened with the remote. So i used the key in the lock and opened the door, the hazard lights were then flashing on the dash, so i stuck the key in the ignition and it started first time.

I then drive off and do some jobs, and come home and my partner reminds me her laptop is in the rear boot, so i go to pop the rear boot with the key fob...NOTHING, i go to do with with the swich in next to the drivers seat....NOTHING. But the front boot (frunk) does pop open no problem?!?!

I've pulled the jump fuse thing out and tried jumping the battery off my fathers car...no difference.

I've tried million differnet key in the lock, unlock, lock combo's.

Key in the ignition then, turning to the on posistion while pressing the lock/unlock button on the key fob NOTHING.

One thing i've also noticed is, when the car is started, when i press the rear spoiler button, the spoiler will not rise up??? The LED is lit on the button but, no matter how long i push it for, the rear spoiler does not rise. I don't know if this is related to the rear boot issue?

PLEASE help! Getting massive agro about getting my girlfriends work laptop out asap, but the whole emergancy cable thing seems like a right pain in the butt! and is a last resort?

I've heard that these cars if not started for a while go into a ''sleep mode''?? Is this what this is? More than the battery being low, as other than that first atempt to open after a week, its not had any problems opening or starting all day?

Looking forward very much for i hope a solution, before i have to cart the car off to a dealership :(

It sounds like it may possibly have slipped into "transit mode". (Delivery mode). It seems to affect some cars differently to others, but it is often comfort features, like the interior light dimming, that get 'lost'. I had one last week where the headlight washers wouldn't work, but the handover routine fixed it.

I would get a specialist to run the Handover Routine with a PIWIS tester. Even if that doesn't fix it, they may be able to pop the rear lid with the computer to retreive the laptop.

If you fancy a run to Maidenhead I could do it for you, or try my friend Tony at Wrightune in Wallingford.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like an interesting idea?...tho I cannot see a single thing wrong or not correctly working with the car appart from the rear boot and the rear spoiler?!

If i have no other joy in the next few days about this i may hit you up for some help! Or your friend at Wrightune?...if you recommend them?

As an extra note i cannot hear any sound when the switch inside the car is pushed of the solinoid trying to open the boot? Anyone else with any idea, i'd very much welcome them and advice!

That was exactly the same on the car with the headlight washers - everything else worked perfectly. Just enter 'Handover' in the search box at the top of the forum home page, and you'll see what I mean.

Hi Daniel

Re my 2003 Boxster 986 .

I have exactly the same problem you had in 2015 with the boot release going dead and the spoiler not working after the battery being disconnected

and also the front boot still working.

How did you fix it it in the end where you successful.

I have been replacing the radio and have a load of parts in the rear boot including the heater control panel

which I now can't access.

If you can help me with any info I would be very grateful

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave

I have the exact same issue that you and Daniel had. Did you figure out the issue and fix? Thank you!! @Collins986 @Daniel Ben Laithwaite
