Need help with boost leak test and loose vacuum hose

Recommended Posts

My check engine light came on.  When I read the code and searched it looked like I had a vacuum leak.  One of the boost hoses had come loose-driver side top on intercooler.  I decided it was time to replace the hoses with Forge Boost Hoses and new clips.

Got the Forge hoses installed and did the boost leak test as follows:

1.  Made one of these setups:

3.  When I applied 20 psi to the system, air was being sucked in at where I have indicated "1" and "2" in the picture.

I was not sure what to do so I covered both openings.

With the help of a friend, we found what could be a loose vacuum hose (indicated in the picture).  Could not figure out where it goes.

Am I doing this test wrong?

Can someone tell me where the loose hose goes?

If you could give me step by step directions on how to do this test, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Mike, looked at mine and I can't figure out which hose your talking about.  If you are going to be around next week, either I can run over or you can come by and we'll try to see where it goes on my car.  Let me know how I can help.

Thanks Randy.   I had to call it a day today.  I got some leads over on rennlist as to where the hose goes to.  I will let you know if I need to look at yours.
