Reverse Light Issue - Tiptronic

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I've been searching a few places trying to locate the root cause of my 987 Boxster Tiptronic's reverse lights not working. On most startups, though sometimes later in the drive when I select reverse, the car throws a reverse light error and I get no backup lights. It's intermittent, but tends to happen more often than not, particularly when its over 70 degrees outside.

I've swapped bulbs a couple of times (including buying OEM bulbs from Suncoast), and it doesnt appear to be fuse related as that fuse hits a bunch of related systems. I understand that the manual tranny has a reverse light switch on the tunnel, but any ideas about the Tip? The closest thing I can find is a transmission position switch (Part Number - 986 325 612 01). Think this could be the offender? What about a bad relay somewhere? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!
