I recall seeing on one of the 996 forums the instructions for locating the "Carrera" logo on the rear decklid. Does anyone know where I can find this? I have a 2001.

I can post it for you. I will need exact model and rear deck style (i.e. standard spoiler or GT3 or Targa, etc.). They are all slightly different.

"Carrera" model logo up to model year 2001

post-2-1114471662.gif

1. Find the middle of the lid.

2. Position the Carrera logo with the dimensions A and B = 129.6 mm and C = 35 ±1 mm on the rear lid and affix.

Hi,

make sure you get the right logo.

From MY 2002, Porsche moved the positioning of the logo to the bottom of the lid. The problem is that the new logos only fit in the new position, not the old one.

Basically the curvature of the lid is concave at the bottom and convex at the top, so they had to make different logos. It's the top of the "C" in "Carrera" that is curved differently. So if you try to stick a new style logo in the old position, the top of the "C" will stick out.

Not all dealers know this.

Cheers,

Uwe

HOLY COW! You just answered my biggest riddle! I've now installed 3 (YES THREE) silver logos to replace the black original one, and the top of the C has been sticking out on all three!!!! I've been going nuts trying to figure out why. The parts guy didn't indicate there was more than one silver logo for a 996. The part number I installed was: 996-559-237-10-4PU. Do you have another part # for a silver logo?

Thanks, Loren.

I guess my dealer didn't know this. They never asked what year 996. Duh!

And I wasted at least an hour each time removing and re-installing a new logo -- not to mention the time back and forth to the dealer and time spent wondering why the top of the darn C just won't stick to the deck lid!!

Can someone confirm then that the correct part number for a silver carrera logo that fits a MY03 911 is 996-559-237-10-4PU? It is the same for Cabrio and Coupe, right? Btw, are these expensive?

Hi

Resurrecting this thread.....

I have a '99 Carrera 4 with the "GT3 Mk1" aerokit, and want to fit a silver Carrera 4 logo on the engine lid.

porsche-911-carrera-996-S1610739-3.jpg

From research, I gather that the logos should be 50mm up from the bottom of the aerokit lid. Is this right?

Also, what is the overall width dimension for "Carrera 4" when using 996559237074PU and 996559241014PU.

(Are these the correct logos?).

Thanks for your advice.

Chris

Correct part numbers for silver logos for a MY1999 C4

"Carrera" - 996 559 237 07 4PU
"4" - 996 559 241 01 4PU

Yes, but that part is from MY2002 and newer cars so the rear lid design changed.

I do not know the proper dimensions for that newer logo on and older model.
