Windshield wiper not making full contact with windshield

Recommended Posts

I just had my cracked windshield replaced and my passenger side windshield wiper is not making full contact with the new windshield at the center of the wiper. Does anyone know how to fix this or is this just a case of the wiper being excessively worn from previous windshield? It looks like it is properly positioned and I checked to ensure nuts are secured.

The pressure of the wiper arm (spring) is not sufficient, lubricate the spring and the pivots of the arm, while you pull the arm away from the glass and moves back. When the arm moves smoothly again, the pressure on the middle part of the wiper blade will increase again.

Try the things listed here, but Im a windscreen fitter and know that some people cut corners on wiper removal by pressing down on the arms to release them which can bend them out of shape.

Although cayenne are very well known to have a hard wiper to remove it's the drivers side that's a pain, never seen someone bend the passenger one as it has 2 spines..... they may have put one on at a slight angle, try removing the bolts and reset it......if not speak to whoever fitted the screen as if this happened immediately after fitting it's definitely caused by the fitting.

I have exactly the same problem on my 2005 Cayenne S. And it was also following a windshield replacement. And it is the passenger side.

In my case, there seems to me to be a lot of play in the wiper arm linkage. The two parallel arms seem pretty sloppy. I ordered new arms from the dealer. But before I pick them up, I just wanted to verify that is the problem.

I tried removing the passenger wiper arm. But the nut and bolt just spin ... Specifically, the one closest to the passenger side. This does not look correct. And I cannot disassemble further until I solve this as it holds the cowel down. If it was supposed to spin, there would be some way to put an torx-wrench on it to hold it.

Can anyone comment on the spinning nut and shaft?

Thanks

pcarroll - this is now my situation.  I replaced blade then lubricated the spring.  We had a lot of rain passed few days and the wiper is loosing contact along the center of the arm almost through out the entire wipe now.  I was going to order a replacement.  I went to check the bolts since its getting worse and the bolt/screw is rotating together and can not tighten or loosen.
