Porsche PCM 3.0 map update problem at Official Porsche Centre

Recommended Posts

Hi I decided to take the plunge and go for a map update on my PCM 3.0 system at my local Porsche dealership.    They have attempted to update the maps on Tuesday but not successful (claimed they had old maps) and ordered new dvds and attempted it today (7 attempts) and have been unsuccessful.

They have asked me to return the car back to them on Monday Morning.  They are saying that they have a 4 DVD set.   DVD1 and 2 have installed okay but on DVD 3 progress gets to 70% and they get a dvd read error.

What is even more worrying is that they have deleted my old maps so my car currently has no maps.      Has any other users here had the same problem on the PCM 3.0 system.

Any advice/experiences would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Was this problem ever solved? Do you know what solved it?

I've also taken the plunge on getting my maps updated on my 997.2 (that has the 6-disc changer), but what happens is that when it asks for DVD 2, it doesn't eject DVD 1... so I'm in the same limbo situation that you were (no maps), not because of corruption but because they can't figure out how to get DVD 1 ejected so they can load DVD 2.

Any ideas?

Hi guys, I just had mine updated last week while it was in for regular service. I ordered the discs from Suncoast a couple weeks ago.  It is now showing PCM3.0 v2.24. It had not been updated since new (2011) and I had been noticing some roads were missing.

They did mention one of the discs took "forever" to finish loading, didn't say which one.
