Variocam plus in detail - free programmable ECU

Recommended Posts

Hello together from germany.

M96.05 is in a VW Beetle 72, as a middle engine with Boxster S Transmission.

There is placed a free programmable ECU Ecumaster black.

I would be really happy to receive some important information:

- parameters, if valve lift is low or high

- variocam is not only retard-advanced, like models before, but stageless (i think there are 3 or more stages definied)

how does the activation work to the solenoid? With one cable, should be PWM. It would be helpful to know the frequency of the PWM.

Sadly, i have no car available to test around and measure...

A map for the cam adjust would be very helpful.

- ignition maps would be perfect, in dependence of Valve lift and cam advance and everything ;-)

If you cannot help me with the detailed information, i would start like:

- soft ignition table

- valve lift high from 1800rpm to the end (take/give 100rpm)

- cam advance from 1500-5500rpm, going more advance in the middle of that

What do you think of start like that?

Regards,

Olli

Hello Olli,

One manual states 4ms PWM (250Hz) 0-12V.

I have seen a valve lift and intake cam advance table only for the turbo.

Jussi
