Any DIY for Sun Shade Motor Replacement?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2012 Cayenne where both passenger sun shade motors are clicking and failing to fully raise and lower the sun shade in the door.  Rear windows are now non-usable.  Any DIY for replacing the Motors once the door panel is removed??  I've gotten to the window regulator assembly and I'm not sure if I need to remove this to get at the sun shade motors.  I haven't removed it yet due to fear of messing up the window operation.  Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The drive mechanism is about MSRP $305 (for each side).

1. Unscrew fastening screws -5- .

2. Disengage connector on the control unit.

3. Unscrew fastening screws on the holder -7- and remove the holder -8- .

4. Press the sleeve -6- out at the feed-through point.

5. Guide the drive mechanism out in a downward direction and remove it.

Installation is the reverse just remember to position damping rubber -8- close to the bracket.

If you dont use the sun shades much there is also the option of having the dealer recode the car with the tester to not have sun shades.  That will restore your window operation and they shouldn't charge much for the coding.
