Fault code P1328 and cel

Recommended Posts

Hi. I have a 2004 996 Carrera that every few days throws the CEL then feels low on power and when plug in Piwis it comes up with fault code P1328 Inlet cam, bank 1 driver.

I have swapped the valve solenoid from bank 1 to 2 in the hope the code would change to bank 2 but it didn't. Any ideas before I start getting too far into over next few days?

Cheers guys.

Basically the P1328 error relates to an open circuit on Bank 1.  You will need to check the wiring harness connector, wiring, and may have to trace it back to the DME.  First thing I would do is unplug the engine wiring harness connectors on the  passenger side of the engine bay, and clean the connectors with some electrical cleaner.  Do the same for the solenoid connector plug.

There are two solenoids on each bank. One for timing and one for valve lift. Are you sure you swapped the right one?

That one (that has a small spring) is for valve lift. Your code is complaining about the timing one, the one closest to the cam chains.

You may also want to check the resistance of the solenoid. Should be something like 11 to 13 ohm if memory serves. After that and swapping, the only thing left would be wiring.

problem solved I think. I know many don't update their resolved issues so thought I would. It turned out to be pin 14 in the engine harness block connector wasn't making a good contact. Once sorted that all has been good. Thanks for the advice and help
