2003 boxster S tiptronic 3.6 swap

Recommended Posts

My motor suffered ims failure, im currently looking at a 3.6 swap. My concerns are regarding my tiptronic trans and trans ecu? Knowing i need to reflash my engine ecu, do i still need to reprogram my transmission ecu? Will my 3.2 trans hold up? any  issues with the swap with the tiptronic?

I have not done a Tiptronic yet but I don't see any problems with the trans holding up as long as it is in good condition now. You will need to do more than flash the ecu, you will have to add and swap some of the wiring to the ecu. Better check into it more carefully before you jump. you may end up paying someone to do it and its not going to be cheap. It is possible that you may have to change some wiring for the trans ecu as well. really not sure as I said I only have done standard transmissions.

A 3.2 of what year to a 3.6 of what year? Year to same year swaps of 996S to 986S are relatively easy but different engine generations result in some wild and lengthy threads on the forums with sometimes no resolution.
