Clutch and Flywheel replacement 996 year 2000 cab

Recommended Posts

I have been driving my 996 year 2000 cab for probably less than 300km, and the clutch seems to have failed me..

The shop i'm using is very helpful and friendly i must say and they are checking the parts to replace.

Situation:

Clutch seems to have broken (3 part)

While "at it" its recommended to change the flywheel as well.

Buying these as package here in Bulgaria is close to €1500 parts only.

I found, and ordered this kit, including flywheel:

Cost was close to €600 for all parts

Engine Code: M96.01, M96.02. Engine Size: 3.4 300 Bhp. Model: Carrera + Carrera 4. Model: Porsche 911. Porsche Flywheel OE Number: 996 114 012 01. Porsche Flywheel OE Number: 996 114 012 02. Porsche Flywheel OE...

However, the seller refunded my order with this answer after checking my VIN:

"I have checked fitment, using the information you have provided, and unfortunately the item you have ordered is incorrect for the vehicle.

I have checked with our suppliers and we are unable to supply the correct part for your vehicle. With much regret, I must cancel and refund your order, although this is better than you receiving a part that won't fit your vehicle.

You will need to accept the cancellation request that we will send you in the next 24/48 hours via eBay, to complete your refund."

While i thank them for checking in advance, im still stuck in what parts to get for my car.

The part tools listed in Porsche for Clutch kit:

99711601315
99611602702
99611608004

The parts in the denied order of the ebay seller:

denied order:
Porsche Clutch OE Number: 996 116 911 00
Porsche Flywheel OE Number: 996 114 012 01
Porsche Flywheel OE Number: 996 114 012 02
Porsche Flywheel OE Number: 996 114 012 03
Porsche Flywheel OE Number: 996 114 012 04

These part nrs seems to be some how associated when i search for original porsche tools on ebay: (oem versions of same?)

K70246 01, K70246-01, K70246.01, K7024601

Could it be i need a "dual mass flywheel"?

Will this fit?

Your car came with a dual-mass flywheel from the factory and the correct latest p/n for the flywheel is 99611401204. The best option in the US is LUK DMF024 and I suspect that's also the case for you.

You can search for clutch kits for your MY/model here. LUK and Sach both provide clutch kits.

Thanks a million for your answer!

Ok im based in Europe. And it seems there should be the "dual mass flywheel". My worry is the clutch kit mainly as the flywheel is intact. do you think the not matching flywheel would be the reason why the seller cancelled my order? (basically the clutch kit would fit, but the flywheel not). They didnt know and their supplier just said they dont have matching clutch+flywheel kit to fit my car. So i dont want to order something that wont fit my car and have to by new one again..

I think they just did not want to get involved shipping parts to Bulgaria.................

if what your saying fits my car, which it could, however min is year 2000 and yours is 2003, it could be that they just added the dual mass flywheel to the year 2000 starting model. then a kit like this would fit:

Accelerator Cables Bonnet Cables Cable Parts Clutch Cables Gear Change Cables. Clutch & Flywheel Parts Guide Tubes & Quadrant Kits Clutch Release Forks Clutch Hoses Clutch Master Cylinders Combined Master & Slave Cyl.

I dont think so, then they would simply say so in the list of countries. some dont allow it.

You´d be surprised, the infrastructure does work ok here.

It is not a matter of your infrastructure, it is a matter of people being lazy here.  A lot of US companies will not even ship into Canada, simply to avoid the customs issues and costs.

I'm not ordering German or UK parts from USA. This is dealers in UK selling with VAT+shipping included..
