No start issue - fixed

Since I purchased my 2008 cayenne I've had intermittent no start problems with the car. It has left me stranded a couple of times. Come back to the car after parking and nothing happens when you turn the key. If the car is scanned the steering lock faulty code comes up.

 

I spoke with Tom at Speedosolutions about rebuilding the steering lock. He told me that the cayennes with the entry and drive system will throw the steering lock code when the kessy is dying. He said if the car starts after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery it is a kessy fault.

 

I had the local dealer replace the kessy p/n 955 618 036 05 and recode it (after convincing the service manager that I didn't want him to troubleshoot the problem). Since then the car has not failed to start once. 😀
