Coolant hose longevity?

Recommended Posts

Have around 90k miles on my 99 boxster that I have had for 2 years, and can tell the coolant and expansion tank have been replaced, but no prior history so dont know about the water pump, and looks to be original? So when I plan to replace the water pump, the coolant hoses on the underside appear soft and I can squeeze them fairly easy, is that normal? I have been going through the car replacing nearly all wear items as preventive maintenance, should I go ahead and replace them while I am at it??

Welcome to RennTech :welcomeani:

It would be a good idea to replace all the hoses with that many miles on it.  Bigger problem is getting at the hoses where the metal coolant lines reach to the radiators, which requires removing the front bumper cover, but also affords you a chance to clean between the AC and coolant radiators to get all the accumulated crud out of there.

Thanks JFP, cleaned those out this spring and they were a mess. Not real active on this forum, mainly a lurker, but really appreciate your info you provide here and elsewhere. I just completed a full suspension refresh, and have spent way more than I paid for the car restoring it to her glory, but runs and drives like a new one and plan to keep it for a long time.
