GT3 clutch pedal

Recommended Posts

Hey lads, have a small prob with my GT3, when depressing the clutch a few times it gets heavier, then I get a "clunk" noise which I feel in the pedal and can also hear. After this happens the pedal gets lighter and after a few more presses it gets heavy again and vice versa. All gear selections are fine and clutch picks up halfway when taking off. Have any of you experienced this prob??? Thanks

I can't tell you what is wrong as unfortunately I can't remember the details, but I had what sounds like the same problem and ended up having to get a new clutch.....sorry. Something about the clutch cover being damaged.

DaveGT3.... I haven't experienced what you describe, nor have my GT3 buddies. In the US, we all have Mk II GT3's which are all still on 4 year warranty. I see that you are in Ireland, ans so may have a Mk I...which may not still be on warranty. If it is on warranty, get thee to a Porsche Service Centre and get their opinion and "register" your complaint so that you have a record of the problem. If not on warranty, I would get as many other opinions as possible from shops, as well as Porsche. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

I have this exact same problem on my 996. Is your gt3 a mkI? I have had the slave cylinder replaced to no cure. I am told that there is a TSB for replacing the clutch arm as it wears poorly creating a wierd recess that allows uncertain engagement as you describe..
