Problem with Soft-Top

Recommended Posts

My car has been into the dealer 5 times for the following problem and they can't fix it, despite replacing part under Porsches advice.

* When the top lowers there is a rear plastic bar that attaches the soft top to the bulkhead via two clips. This pops off either when the roof is fully lowered of half-way up when it is raised. The weight of the glass screen pushes down on it and it releases.

* The roof has two bits of velcro that attach the inner lining to the frame. One pieces always comes off as it is pulled off when the roof goes down.

The dealer has replaced the clips, bar and other parts - retightened the roof and cables but there is still a problem. Porsche have not been able to solve the problem either.

My question is:

has anyone else had this problem and know of a fix?

The dealer wants the car to go to the bodyshop now????

Everytime I get the car back the dealer says that the problem was fixed, road tested and it didnt do it. I believe them in this totally but as soon as I lower the roof it does it!!

I think a new roof might be the option.

The car is an Oct 05 Boxster 987 2.7

I just sent you a TSB that may be related to your problem.

Claude

Really appreciate that.

I think it may be related to my fault but there are other things going wrong.

The dealer is replacing the complete roof and mechanism next week!!
