Screeching at cold startup

Recommended Posts

Its been frequent days below zero here. My car is garaged but it's still very cold.

Just noticed that on the odd occasion, when i start the car, I hear a loud screeching sound. It goes away immediatly the car is started. No warning lights show. Car starts always 1st time. No smoke. Idles perfectly. Just a real loud screem for about 2 seconds. It seems to happen only when the car is cold.

It happens occasionally and not always. in fact I have tried many times to record the sound but it just refuses to screech when I want to record it

Any ideas what it could be?

Yea I thought belt too but it only had a service 2 months back (3k miles).

you would think they checked the belts. Where is the air pump. Is this something i should be worried about?

It's going in for its 2nd RMS in a few weeks so I will get them to check it then. Just thought maybe you would know what it would be.

Cheers,

Berny
