How to tell if I have e-gas or not?

Recommended Posts

My 1998 2.5 Box has idle problems when warm while running inbetween red lights. If I brake kinda hard and fast, it's got a very good chance of stalling out. I'm going to clean the MAF this week and see what happens, but my mechanic said he did it already and things didn't get much better. I don't really know what he used, so I'll start from scratch and do it with contact cleaner as recommended. BUT, just in case, I'm going hunting for a new MAF. Problem is, they ask if I have e-gas or not. How can I tell if it's installed or not??

A '98 2.5 is DME version 5.2.2 and does not have e-gas. I think it was introduced on the 2.7 cars with DME 7.2.

There is great article about e-Gas for Boxster coming up next month issue of Excellence magazine.

Basically e-Gas or drive by wire model started in 2000 year model.

Thanks to you both. Let's see if cleaning helps....
