It was my last day on my old job.... and I was leaving to go to my farewell dinner. I jumped into my 98 2.5 and turned the key, and nothing!, zippo!

All the lights work, and there seems to be plenty of juice in the battery, but it's as if the ignition switch is discomnnected. no clicks, no draw on the battery nothing. I took it to a local guy, who thinks it might be the alarm..... more specificly, the key. Is this possible????? If the key is bad, won't the car turn over but not start?

typical ignition switch problem. I replaced 3 already. $30 bucks from eBay. I am thinking of changing the switch to the new style.. it will cost more than $200 i was told.
