Gear change problems on short shift

Today as I was driving, suddenlyI could not select any of the gears in the front plane (reverse, 1,3,5). My car is an S with the Porsche short shift which I've had for almost 3 years now.

I had some difficulty selecting reverse a few times over recent weeks which I ignored.

I limbed home using 2nd and 4rth and tried to adjust the short shift linkage by tightening the front screw. This improved the selection of 1,3 and 5 but there no way I can select reverse.

Any ideas as to cause of the problem? Parts that usually go wrong? Any further adjusment possibilities on the cable linkage to cure the problem. I believe the actual lever short shift is not damaged in anyway.

Your assistance will be appreciated.
