  1. Hi. on the right side of the engine (looking from behind) between the intake runners, there's an engine compartment temperature sensor. Does anyone know the part number for that rubber grommet?
  2. Thx, just to close this out, i replaced that Y-cable from starter to alternator and jump post/connection and all is good now. thx.
  3. Hi. trying to remove/loosen the A/C compressor. Two bolts on the front are easy. I can't even find the bolt on the back.
  4. Hi. Troubleshooting a consistent voltage drop and one of the things I want to check is the connections at the power distribution panel. It's in the fron right? by the battery?
  5. Hi. 'been plagued by a low voltage problem and want to replace the cable from the alternator to the starter. How do i do this and where can i find the part number for that wire (2000 996 C2 Automatic, engine serial number: M96/04AT66Y66622). I know how to remove the alternator, but couldn't see the starter from there. Any help is appreciated.
  6. Hi. My symptoms are low voltage when the engine is running: 11.9 to 12.3. i removed the alternator and replace the voltage regulator with a new part and replaced the original alternator: same deal. Could anything else be causing this beside the battery (went thru two of those already), the voltage regulator, or the alternator? And if it is the alternator, where can i get a new one without a core charge? Any help is appreciated
  7. got it. This post seems to describe my syptoms and answer all my questions. i will attempt to remove the alternator and replace the voltage regulator. I'm very much looking forward to this project, now that i am armed with this info: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-996-997-forum/408495-alternator-repair-regulator-replacement.html#post3934281
  8. Hi. I'm pretty sure either my alternator or voltage regulator is bad. Went through two batteries in 6 months, voltmeter never goes above 12.5, and usually hangs out around 11.5. Voltage regulator is cheap but a new alternator is not. has anyone successfully rebuilt a 996 alternator with any kind of "kit" (e.g. brush replacement? If so, where can i buy one?
  9. Hi. I think I have a leak on the inner CV boot on the left axle of my 2000 C2 Tip car. i think it's easier to just get a whole new axle (with CV boots already on it) and replace it. Is it as easy as it looks: just unbolt the allen bolts on each side, remove/re-install. Do I need to drop the engine to get the axle out?
  10. Bentley says i need tools P254 and 9247/1 (whatever they are) to press back in the drive flange. is that true?
  11. Hi. on my 2000 C2 Tiptronic, I notice a leak on the rear left side drive flange. where the inner CV goes into the final drive (CV boot itself is fine). Is it as easy as unbolting all the bolts from CV to final drive and replacing the rotational seal in there? Anything else i would have to remove? Any help is appreciated.
  12. I can't debug this thing for the life of me. I got this annoying creak from the left rear side of the car whenever I accelerate abruptly, from a stop or low speed. It sounds structural. I've already checked the shock mount bolts and they are tight. Someone mentioned it could be a loose baffle in the muffler.
  13. Hi. Does any company make beige rubber floormats, fitted for the 996?
