How to check static cornering lights?

Recommended Posts

When I got my car back from my mechanic (generic, non-Porsche specialist - i live in the boonies so have to make do with what's available out here)  to put on the summer tires, he mentioned that they did a light check but there were bulbs in the headlight units they weren't able to switch on and thus check. Back home, I dug into the manual (I just drive cars, don't make a study usually out of them ;)) and found out I probably have what the manual calls "static cornering lights". Last night, I tried to get the left one to switch on - it was dark so the sensors switched on the headlamps, engine running, I tried moving the steering wheel all the way to the left, high beam, regular, fog lights on and off, but nothing switched them on. I guess they should work because other posts indicate that the sockets often corrode and that will prompt the car to complain loudly (silly computers these days), but I have no clue on how to verify it. Did I miss some combination of settings?

2008 Cayenne S, HID lamps, and I guess relevant: Canada so probably special settings for the Canadian driving lights regulations.
