  • Description 2000 Black C2 Cabriolet with Boxster Red interior, dark maple wood, leather dash, embossed seats, Factory Sport 18" wheels with Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S. Rear window area becomes unbonded regularly. Need to replace the top before long. Daily driver except in winter. Mobil 1 5W30 once per year since new. No oil leaks, maybe because I drive daily. I love this car and never get tired of it.<br /><br />Repairs: Coolant reservoir replaced, water pump, coolant hose, AC pressure switch replaced (started groaning), generator, refilled power steering pump and convertible top oil reservoirs, spark plug tube oil seals, retap one spark plug hole, reglued plastic window many times, brake pads (still original rotors), replace center plastic console due to paint wear. Center arm rest hinge replaced with kit. Plan to replace the rotors and pads at 300k. Did it all myself except the water pump. Not too bad for 200k.<br /><br />Lessons: The suspension coil springs settle over time (20 mm at each corner), messing up the alignment. Just realign to zero toe, low negative camber (1 degree rear, near zero front), and enjoy your lower car. Factory setting has too much toe in and negative camber in the rear, causing rear lateral movement on tar strips and uneven tire wear. Replace the coolant hoses if you have to replace the water pump. Plan to run a die on the spark plugs before installation as the thread quality on new spark plugs is not too good. Wheels and paint get a little beat up by 200k. Windshield still OK. Alternate brake fluid color when replacing. The exhaust gets loose items in the muffler that don't sound too good when it's cold, but is otherwise extremely durable. After trying many tires, like the Pirelli Pzero Nero best considering wear, noise, etc. Cooling system has never been robust. Have to turn off the AC when it gets over 95 degrees in city driving to control engine temperature. If you don't the engine control will shut off the AC automatically anyway if it gets too hot. Drive these cars hard for 200k; they love it. Hit 7k rpm almost every day. When the engine eventually gives up, I want to restore this car plus buy a GT3.

Nice job taking car of your car. Your interior looks really good in the photos especially for a daily driver! Nice to see that you hit 200K on that engine without any real major work.

I agree with the 7K RPM's if I am not hittin' high rev's it is like the car wants to go to sleep (LOL). It really truns on when you get on it.
