Sliding windows when taking the roof down

Look for corrosion in the connector on the left A pillar.

I will certainly look at it, but isn't the function of this switch to get the window into motion (to actually open the window half way)? because that's what's happening, but the window doesn't stop half way but goes all the way down.

If there is something wrong with the switch ( on top nearby the interior light ) , you got a problem with both windows. In your case it is only one window with a problem, mostly a corrosion problem in the electric connectors in the A pillars especially in country's with a lot of rain.

Hi there,

I've looked briefly at the A pillar, mind you it was getting dark, but could you help me out where to look for the A-pillar switch?

Is it located inside the little triangle where the window slides in when closing up?

Pics or drawing would be great.

The switch in the middle is fine and does the job, so it is the passenger windows case (on the left side in our case), but need to locate the switch :)

I'll have more daylight tomorrow, so might see more.

Hi

It is not a switch but a connector ho is located on the A pillar nearby the door hinges, look out for the pins some have the size of a needle. If it is to difficult to do go to a dealer or an electrician.

I must be blind, but couldn't find it.

If nobody could get a picture for me or give me another hint, then dealer it has to be :(

Which will have to wait as that will involve money :)

Just now I've relized what you ment, the conector inside the rubber/plastic cover...

**** I feel stupid :)

I will open it tonight and have a look and then I'll report again and yes I'll say again how stupid I am :)

To open it, unscrew the TORX-screw and pull the connector out the A-pillar. At the same time give a look on the back side of the connector where the wiring gets, in and pull gently for loose or broken connections cause corrosion.

Well as promised, yes I'm stupid :D

Unfortunately, got home late and it's dark outside, so had to use a head torch.

What a bugger to take out and the wires wont come out much.

Any idea which wires are the ones associated with the window?

Also how does the connector comes apart as I don't want to break it.

Well at least I'm getting closer now :)

Next time I'm gonna take some pics too.

well, somebody driven into the car over the night, so will check the connectors in the same time as replacing the door, as it seams that it's much cheaper to get 2nd hand one then repair or new one.

That's bad luck, trey to find a 2nd hand door. It looks that the rear wing is damaged as well, is your car hit by a lorry?I can imagine how you felt.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to do, but no luck with black door so far.

Just blue or silver, so could somebody in UK with black 986 write it off, but leave the drivers door untouched :thumbup:
