It seems that the switch is just a momentary and not a latching switch. Would have to be a momentary that would send a pulse to the computer to turn on. That way when you turn car off cruise goes off. A latching switch in this situation would not make sense. Appears to be a logic issue... Perhaps there is an issue in the DME programming.

My cruise control will not hold either. When you turn on ignition Green light on dash lights then goes out. When pushing in the button to turn on cruise dash light lights as long as I hold the button in. All brake lights are functioning and I have replaced the Clutch Switch (which was fine anyways). If I hold in the on switch cruise will engage and work but as soon as I let off the dash light goes out and cruise disengages.

Found this on a sixspeeed forum
"I have seen in 2-3 cases where customers have disconnected and reconnected their batteries many times in a short amount of time or a battery dies multiple times that cc coding is lost. Usually this would be accompanied by an error in the DME or Gauge cluster that would reference the "EEprom"
