  1. Lol not on your life.
Well not unless I get a 911 get 2/3 or carrera 4s or something rapid in later life when I'm bald on top lol but never a older Porsche especially the Cayenne. I sold the Audi also in PX for my old Golf R and then sold that too. Made a nice little profit on the deal.
Driving (dad's) company car Nissan Maxima 3.5 v6 cvt, Piece of sh*t but comfortable and no hassles for me.
Off to uk next year so looking for an Audi 2.0T FSI and go stage 2 on it for some fun.
Once you go fast Audi you never go back. .....
Hahaha. I totally understand what you're saying. I love driving it but hate having to deal with the constant issues. I'm planning to keep mine until April before the weather starts heating up again.

  2. I had check tail light and never found the problem. Could be rear comfort control unit. Could be bad earth, could be low voltage could be bad connection.
I was afraid you were gonna say that lewisweller. Oh...well, I'll keep troubleshooting. Will check the voltages and have a look at the Comfort Control Unit. Thank you very much.
BTW, read in one of your posts you sold your PIG. Any plans on getting another one?

  3. Hi. Having "Check Front Side Lights" message come up every time I turn on the headlights. Are Side Markers supposed to turn On with the headlights or just with the turn signals? All light bulbs seem to be working fine. I still went ahead and replaced the Side Marker light bulbs by the wheel wells but the message still comes on when switching the headlights on. I'm using regular bulbs no LED's.

    955 Cayenne Turbo 06.

    Thanks in advance.

could you please let me know how you manage to unclip that panel to get access to the wiring? Please

The panel is attached by plastic fasteners. Just put a flat screwdriver or pry bar between it and the hatch and pull gently.
I broke 2 of the fasteners in the process.
Like most Porsche plastic, they were brittle and ready to break apart.

Steering rack passenger side end Seal hydraulic seal and o-ring changed today couldn't really see why the seals installed last year would leak. I checked for wear and also tears and found nothing.

    All OK so far.

Also changed front differential oil for redline heavy duty shock proof oil. We'll see if it quietens down the front differential bearing noise at 120kph.

Rear camera won't pop open now! It's never ending ..........

    Hi lewisweller.

Just found this post as I'm having a Power steering leak in my 2006 CTT.  Haven't crawled under the car to find the source yet.

Had the same problem with the camera.  Bought this one from Aliexpress and had it shipped to Dubai.

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/VW-Tiguan-Car-Rear-Camera-Car-Reversing-Camera-For-VW-Touareg-Poussin-Old-Passat-Porsche-Cayenne/1649503339.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.df2W9M

Used this instructions to replace it:

No need for relay as this camera will work directly from the old camera source.  6.5 V.

I had to drill a hole in the hatch to get the cables from inside the hatch above the number plate to the original camera area.

  6. Agree on the AC being underpowered for these conditions.
For the musty smell, I bought a moisture absorber from ACE a couple of weeks ago and it's made a great difference. First of all, the air inside the car doesn't feel humid and heavy as before which contributed to the heat feeling. It feels as if the AC doesn't have to work so hard to lower the temp. It's got a nice fragrance and most importantly it's collecting moisture from inside the car. So far it's 1/4 full capacity (2 weeks). I just have to secure it with some velcro to stop it from tumbling while driving.
Give it a shot, I'm happy with the results.

BTW, the one from ACE is different brand. I just attached a sample image.
  7. Went to garage today, the gauges showed the low pressure side was too high and the high pressure side was about right. The technician said it is either the refrigerant is over charged or the compressor is weak and would need replacement. For the hell of it I said let's evacuate it and refill to spec 1050grams. He evacuated only 700grams the first time which was strange, he then refilled with 1050 and it went hot meaning something was wrong. He evacuated it again and took out 1400grams this time meaning the extra 350 grams was left from the first time. Now he refilled again to 1050 gram and the AC was Ok (low pressure side gauge still reads alittle too high) cooling ok but not winning any medals in the middle east.
I think the summary of this is unless something else is the fault, its the compressor which is worn and weak?
Welcome any advice or experience pls I'm by no means an AC expert, quite the opposite.

I would take that suggestion of weak AC compressor with a pinch of salt. I replaced mine in early July and did not notice much difference at the time.
However, now that the temperatures have dropped below 40°C my AC is coping fine.

  8. Hi Rod Croskery.
I have a similar problem, were after turning on my AC, I would have an intermittent thumping noise. It turned out to be the white rode you mentioned. When the AC recirculation is set to AUTO or OFF, the white rod just travels back and forth continuously and the thumping is the actual fresh air baffle opening and closing.
If I select manual recirculation ON, the baffle would close completely.
I live in a very hot place so I'm afraid the baffle is not doing it's job properly to keep outside air from coming into the cabin at high temperatures.

May I ask what exactly did you do to the actuator to fix it?

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Thank you for the tips, will be doing the bypass power up check asap. I noticed in my receipts from previous owner it had a new compressor 4 years ago at a whopping cost from Porsche. Omg pls not again I'm so broke.....sniffle sniffle ......

    Hi lewisweller.
I replaced my Compressor about 2 months ago. Bought the Denso unit from AutohausAZ, expansion valve and receiver-dryer for US$530 + AED 250 shipping to Dubai.

    http://www.autohausaz.com/pn/95812601400

I had it replaced at Zdegree for AED 1000. Acording to them the system is all fine now.

Honestly I am only using the car early morning or evenings as during the middle of the day, the heat is unbearable. The AC cannot cope with 40°+, it blows cool air but it isn't cold enough to really cool the car. I have it set to Auto 19° but the blower keeps working at top speed since the system is unable to reach that temperature. Early morning or evening not a problem, blower will drop to low speed. Using my Toyota during the day.

  10. Well. I've replaced the AC fan regulator and lubed the fan bearing. Fan is working properly even when car is seating in the sun.

Had the AC gas checked as I feel the system is not cooling enough.

I was told by the technician, the gas quantity is fine but he said the compressor is weak (not generating enough vacuum) and needs replacement. He showed me the low pressure reading of 51 psi. According to him it should have been between 20 - 40 psi.

  11. If it's the interior AC blower fan then change the regulator, renowned for intermitted problems. Remove the glove box and the fan unit can be accessed and removed with regulator. At the same time clean and lube the fan motor bearing.

Thanks for your help. It's the internal blower failing intermittently. Specially when it's really hot outside.

That's the same failure mode my Cayenne had as well, when the vehicle was hottest was when the regulator seemed to die or be most intermittent and lock out the highest fan settings. The system would then see inadequate cooling and request an even higher (broken) fan state from the regulator, until it reached maximum, all while barely blowing any air through. I think mine might have frozen a few times since it wouldn't blow at all.

I replaced my fan regulator and now I have awesome cooling and all of the fan states all of the time.

Troubleshooting this was strange since I could be in a parking garage and have all the fan states, but right when I needed the highest fan states (after being parked in direct sunlight) most they would be unavailable.

Glad to hear mine is not an isolated case. Looking forward to replacing the regulator once I receive it and lubricating the motor bearing.

Will post my results after the fix.

    Thanks everyone.

I'll try replacing the regulator and lube the bearing to see if that fixes my problem.

  13. I won't mention the garage and wouldn't recommend you either. I suggest you go to z-degrees in al quoz for AC gassing but you say the fan doesn't work so that has to be fixed ofcourse. If the AC works OK when driving I would say the AC gas and compressors etc are Ok. It is just the fan not running which is the problem. Go see chad at Motor Mec 050 739 10 33, also in al quoz just around the corner from Porsche service centre in fact. we should meet up I really got to see what another ctt drives like compared to mine, I think mine is a bit rough and under powered, but I might be used to my audi which is F quick and expecting too much from this heavy beast. Lol

Thanks for the quick reply and your recommendations.

Yeah, the AC fan is driving me nuts as it only happens when the car sits in the sun. If the car is parked in the shade then it works fine.

Anyways I'll have the guys replace the gas.

Currently out of the country but happy to meet if you want to test mine.

  14. The AC gas volume is 700grams for non 4 zone and 1050grams for 4 zone AC systems on all cayenne 955. The gauge won't tell you how much gas you have filled and by looking at you low pressure gas gauge it's go too much in it I think. Best to drain the whole gas out and only add the exact amount when recharging. An AC machine would such out the old gas check for vacuum pressure hence any leaks and then re-gas the correct set amount you tell it. Many places do AC repair except the stealer, I would also recommend you take it to one for peace of mind and safety, the gas is not healthy for humans! The garage I took mind too had an issue with the low pressure connection NRV and the muppet told me there wasn't any gas in it, I told him impossible or the AC wouldn't blow any cold but it was working Ok ish. Turns out the muppet in question then proceeded to add 1050 on top of the 700 he mistakenly put in a few day before (he thought it was dual zone not 4 zone). So the low pressure gauge read some incredible figure and the compressor would work. I got his manager out to bollock him and they drained the 1750g out and re-gassed with 1050g and all was perfect. I live in dubai, AC is pretty important; the "mechanics" here have some of the gear but no idea. Lol

    Thanks for the info lewisweller.

May I ask where did you take your car in Dubai? I live over here as well and I'm having problems with my AC not cooling when parking the car in the sun.

When the car sits in the sun for a while the AC fan would not even start despite being in the Coldest setting.
