  1. Loren, many thanks for the information, I will try and remember to do a search beforehand in future
  2. You may have read on other forums that while cleaning the car I damaged the fuel filler cover on my new 997 C2S :( . The cover itself looks fine it's just that the spring assisted closing hinge/mechanism that has been affected. The cover is no longer restrained in the open position and when closed it's somewhat "floppy" and rattles. My OPC was reluctant to tackle the problem saying that it looks fine but I would like to get the problem sorted. It may be that the spring mechanism has become unseated but its difficult to see, hence my question: How can I safely remove the fuel cover and hinge mechanism to allow a more detailed examination and hopefully rectify the problem?
  3. You can check out my choice here: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/show...highlight=snarf I'm with you re the PSE but I would definitely include the phone module, my prior experience with modern car comms is non-existent but I was surprised and impressed with the capability of this package. The multifunction wheel is nice but not essential as all the controls are near to hand. I went for the adaptive sports seats, which, although early days yet (only done 30 miles in the car - unable to use it this week) I think are great. I don't think you will need the extended Nav option unless you expect to be driving in areas not covered by the DVD. Stainless steel tips look good and I think will be easier to keep clean. I went for the sports Chrono and although I don't expect to use the stop watch function very often I thought the additional PCM features that come with it made it worthwhile There is a tremendous amount on forums regarding options and I think reasearching this and working your way through the list is one of the most challenging yet enjoyable parts of buying a new Porsche. Have fun.
  4. Dealer obliged and provided a print out dated and timed just a couple of hour before I collected the car. Zero ignitions recorded across the entire range. Operating hours counter was 3.000 and total distance was 36.000 (km I presume). Odometer reading was 26 miles which is 42km so a little confused about this. Still its nice to have a little more information on the cars short history.
  5. Thanks for the update, it's reassuring to know that the car is still running.
  6. If you have already read this on other forums, sorry – move on. Just about a week to go before I collect my new C2S. For insurance purposes I had to contact the dealer to get delivery mileage which turns out to be 26 miles. Initially I thought this was high but a quick search showed this to be about the average. However, I then started worrying about what might have happened during those 26 miles, I know some 997 owners have had warranty disputes because of the number of ignitions in ranges 1 to 6 shown on DME data analysis. Hence my question; can the number of ignitions in the ranges 1 to 6 be analysed by date or time such that any mistreatment prior to delivery can be isolated and identified as such? Or is the only safe option to get a DME print-out before taking delivery and has anyone done this? Information on DME data can be found at: http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0...part=5&vc=1
  7. This is what I went for: BTW can anyone confirm the tyre widths (front and rear) for the Carrera sports wheels, I believe they're 10mm wider than the other options. I'm told the Carrera sports wheels are also in GT Silver. I dropped the PSE because I didn't feel the sound improvement with no performance gain justified the extra cash but I know I'm in a minority here. The MP3 format makes the CD autochanger redundant, and I dropped the Bose to stay closer to my budget because my hearing is shot.
  8. This sound similar to a problem discussed a few weeks ago on renlist: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/show...ight=gas+vapour " . . . there could be a pressure equalization issue with the gas tank / fuel lines and suggested the following: 1. turn engine off 2. open gas cap 3. start engine and run for few minutes 4. put gas cap back on I'm happy to report this worked! Hopefully this will save someone else the agony and frustration should this same problem happen to you" Hope your problem is so easily resolved.
