I found the number (and ordered) the temperature sensor for my '97 which by looking inside the left side of the bumper, know that it does not have one. I have looked at the parts PDF but cannot find anything if mine is missing the wiring. I am planning on taking my front bumper off soon but want to have all the parts to hook it up if needed.

Your part number comes back to a 2001 up 996 and will not work on your car.
The remote for a 1997 986 is 986 637 243 01. The alarm for a 1997 is different than the alarm used in 1998-2000, so you must get a 1997 remote and it must have the 24 digit paper tag to code it to your car.
Perfect! Thanks for the info!

Will 996 637 422 42 work on my car? Should I be concerned with Delphi:TXF315P3 , CAN:3659104467 , LTQTXF315P3 , FM-315MHz?
Thanks!

Yes, It was a 12/96 build car, without the temp sensor. Could this be retrofitted?
Thanks.
