Thanks for the reply and much appreciated. Luckily I managed to find a video of the switch location which helps me visualise it much better - for reference for others in the future it is below

For the two switches, do you know which one triggers the gear stick unlock on the tiptronic gearbox as that's the one I'm trying to replace?

Basically I have to step on and off the brake pedal a few times (random amount) until it unlocks so I think it is the switch not triggering it consistently

That's great advice - I have tried 3 times now to lie upside down in the footwell and try and 'see' the **** switch and it's honestly impossible with the air vent there and the knee stop trim for the dash. The Pelican article says you can see it if you lie in the passenger side and slide across but no amount of trying for me could do that either.

Is the switch mounted vertically above the pedal and do you have to twist it to unlock it from its mount?

Awesome - just had a similar problem where the spring clip had worked itself lose inside the button, so used some pliers and a screw driver and as per your picture above managed to reseat it properly again - many thanks!

Also interested in this as I want to get the correct bumper for my 996 C4S so read the Porsche Spare Parts codes available at Stuttcars.com here

So what it seems as that there are 4 different front bumper codes, and 2 different back ones, and strangely the GT3 seems to have used the same read bumper as the C2

Can anyone verify that the following codes are correct please?

Front
C2 - 996 505 311 04
C4 / Turbo - 996 505 311 05
GT2 - 996 505 311 30
GT3 - 996 505 980 03

Rear
C2 / GT3 - 996 505 411 08
C4 / Turbo / GT2 - 996 505 411 16

I've also been offered a spare bumper which is coded 996 505 111 02 which sounds the same as the code on the one the OP enquired about but looks like a C2 front bumper as far as I can see!
