  1. Mine is drivers side with window not going down both inside handle and outside handle but I can push it down that 1/2 inch.

Is there a DIY link to the window regulator replacement. Anyone ever replace one? When you take the door panel off do you need to disconnect battery because of airbag? Any quality repair shops in Central Florida besides the dealer?

Dealer want's $250 and another $400 for labor for part and Ebay has OEM's for $115

  2. Sorry to bring this thread back to life but having the same issue.

Dealer diagnosis my 04' S ratteling sound in left rear. They said it was the L/S Control Trailing Arm (bad bushing) 986-331-043-07. Is it safe to buy an rebuit one from Vertex for the left side? Does any one have instructions on how to replace this. Dealer wants $500 for part and $200 installation.

Dearler said it was not a safety issue but just a noise issue, are they correct? Also do I have to have the Dealer do alignment or can a alignment shop work ok?

  3. Fault code P0717.

    FIX

Dealer replaced the inductive transmitter (sensor on valve body) and checked the wiring harness for breaks.

Here is what was on the service invoice for all the pros:

    -P0717 - GEAR SEL MONITER

TRANS INPUT SPEED - AS PER DAI MANUAL CKED THE FLUID OK - OKED TO DO SOM COT - R+R THE TRANS CU AND AUMED OUT TO THE SENSOR HAS 123M OHM SPECS 125 OHMS

REMOVED THE LOWER LINK ARMS AND OHMED IN THE TRANS STILL HAS 123M OHM, IT IS EITHER HARNESS IN THE TRANS OR THE SENSORS - ORDERED PARTS - R+R THE TRANS PANTHE VALVE BODY AND OHMED THE SENSOR 123M OHMS, PUT NEW SENSOR IN AND IT WAS 125 OHMS - CONNECTED HARNESS AND OHMED AGAIN, ALL OK - REINSTALLED THE VALVE BODY AND PAN AND FILLED WITH OIL - EREASED FAULT CODES

Wow 1k repair and the sensor was only $145.00....

  4. Triptonic

This just started happening the other day and ideas? When in auto the car shifted a little hard from 2nd to 3rd then a harder shift into 4th where it stays, the park and 4th gear light on the dash flashes back in forth and check engine light comes on. When car is re started it will go back to normal with the check engine light off then it starts doing the same thing again. Thanks for your input. See sig. for car details.

  5. I'd love to do the 4 stalk OBC, but not car repair savy. I asked the local dealer here and the service manager didn't even know how to program the OBC hack <_< . Any locals here that can be of any assistance on this mod?

If your looking for inexpensive upgrades I'd de-amber the lights, add rear speakers like the PNP's.

  6. Ok, Loren and Co. please clarify for me. I have an '04 Boxster S without the OBC is this post saying you can have the OBC features displayed on your non OBC? If so how can this be done. Thanks

FYI-Novice here so not to technical.

You will need either the OBC stalk added toy your steering wheel or hack the dash switch that toggles the same process. The details are documented here but this may be much easier for someone that has doen it before.

You can have the OBC activated in your DME and instrument cluster by anyone with a PST2 or PIWIS tester.

You don't say where you are located but if you are close to me I'll be happy to turn OBC on for you. On MY01 and later Boxsters (and MY03 and newer Carreras) you will need to add the switch before you see anything in the display. On the older cars the outside temperature showed up immediately as it is the default for OBC.

Central Florida. Anyone in Central Florida for this??

    Edited:

I guess you need the 4 stalk for the OBC to be fully functionable, anyone know where to get a 4 stalk? What might be the charge for the local dealer to install the 4 stalk?

  7. Have an 04 Boxster S and the drivers side driving light in the headlight is burnt out (small skinny one). Is there a specific bulb that needs to be replaced with or can I pick one up at the local auto parst store. What is the part # or bulb type thats needs to go in?

Also, any directions on taking the headlight out.

  8. Thanks for all the advice and tips. Now how and were do the rear speakers mount?

If you are referring to the kits we have been describing here...they mount inside the rear storage unit located on top of the engine cover and right behind the driver/passenger's head. This has a small storage compartment on each side behind the headrest. These are removed and replaced with the speaker mounts and the factory speaker baffles. Easy mod really. Takes 2 or 3 evenings of work. If your car does not already have the rear storage compartment, you need to get one of those first. I have seen them on EBay occasionally for around $150

I got the PNP kit, what are the factory speaker baffles you mention. The PNP's just mounted directly into the storage unit with nothing be hind them.

  9. Did a couple of searches... but didn't come up with anything

Looking for part number and price for a non-smoker type of plug that would replace the cigarette lighter (the heated element); local dealer could not find it on their system...

    car is a 2003 Boxster

    many thanks in advance

I had the exact plug you are looking for in my '99 996. I don't think you can buy it separately. It came as part of a non-smoking kit that included replacing the ashtray with an open tray. It was plastic and matched the orginal lighter except it showed a flame with a line through it indicating it wasn't a lighter.

    Phil

Where can you find this complete kit?

  10. Q-Shipp986's links are the ones I used to tackle the firewall issue from the Amp. While PNPs instructions were good (hard to see the pictures) these links did a better job. It took me approx. 2.5 hrs for the install, probably could have cut it to 2 hrs if I had not gotten stuck with the firewall.

  11. I bought my 2004 Boxster S used from a local dealer and has the CDR23 radio in it. Looking to install the PNP rear speakers but do not have the radio code once I disconnect from the battery for installation. Is there a way I can obtain this code? Thanks

On a side note why do you have to disconnect the battery/radio when installing the PNP speakers?

  12. New to the board. Great information in here too.

When looking at the PNP rear speakers kit it seems as if the speaker quality is better then the Porsche rear speakers kit. Has any one heard any of these and is there a difference in sound quality? I recently purchase the PNP and should be getting them in a week. Anyone tried to install them or did you have professional installation. How do they hook up to the radio or AMP? Does anyone also have the specs on the PNP speakers.
