  1. I set my tires as stated in this PCA Tech article; I agree the car feels much better with the higher pressures (my car is an'02 S with 8/10x18's running 225s and 265s currently). Keep in mind, factory recommended pressures will induce understeer to keep drivers safe from themselves. These are also street pressures, as I don't even recommend running "street" tires on a track; they were not built for the loads or slip angles. If you continue to track your car, purchase an R rated DOT rubber like a Pilot Sport Cup. You can play with pressures all you want to suit your driving style and ability. I've been tracking 911s for many years, but do not track my Boxster (though I have driven numerous cars as an instructor for the Chicago Region).

  2. As an update for those interested in wheels for your Boxster, I've included some pics that show the challenge of placing wider wheels. My car is an '02 S, lowered with H&R Sport Springs. The control arms are quite close with 10" wheels et 47. In fact, when I first installed the 10s, the parking cable rubbed on the inside of the wheel; I tied it back with a cable tie. There is only finger clearance with the control arm in my setup. As stated, pictures speak, so I've included a few for your review.

  3. My '02 soft top is treated with "Raggtopp" which is an excellent product. The fabric conditioner renews the appearance of the soft top, repells water and contains a UV agent to protect from fading. Admittedly, my car has 11k miles, is garaged and only sees fair weather. However, the top looks like new and repells water like crazy (when I wash it). It also doesn't allow dust or grime to settle into the fabric. I don't know what the manufacturer's products cost, but Raggtopp is very cheap (under $20).

  4. Hi John,

Just got around to installing my one-touch top opener...great device, easy to instal and so convenient! Thanks again for producing a terrific product at a very competitive price. When my friend sees mine he'll want to order one too; hopefully there are a few left. Anyone who is interested in this product, I give it my endorsement.

    Thanks!

  5. If you could elaborate on the O2 sensors in the CAT, it would be appreciated. Do you just unplug them? You seem to indicate there are no CEL issues without the secondary CATS. I replaced my muffler, so I'm aware of the connections; just unsure of how the O2 sensors come into play. BTW, $495 for two bypass pipes? I'm in the wrong business!

  6. In my neighborhood, cats are prohibited from roaming freely by law. What irks me is owners who feel they are above the law and allow their pets to disturb the rest of us. I caught one in my garage one time and drop kicked that sucker halfway down the block. We have a neighbor who sets traps and takes them to the animal control...problem is they keep coming back. Maybe we need to eradicate the owner?

  7. I installed a B&M in my '02 S. Love the feel and precise shifting. Not too stiff at all; just the way I like it. The throws are nice and short. The shifter was very easy to install; just be certain to mark your cables so they return to the proper position upon reinstallation. Now when I drive other 986/996 cars, the shifter feels so long and vague.

  8. "Once the ROW M030 is broken in"

Andy M, are you suggesting that the ride height will change after X number of miles? Alignment always needs to be checked as suspensions break in. I've had professionally installed race suspensions on my 911s and never heard that...of course they had to be re-aligned due to my curb jumping! I have the H&R sports on my '02 S and am very happy with the street performance and look. Even the standard Boxster suspension offers far more capacity than the average driver can handle. Look is cosmetic...save your money unless you drive like Jorg Bergmeister.

  9. Removal of the rear bumper cover is very easy and allows all sorts of access to the muffler. I replaced my factory unit with the one LuisR pictured. Very good sound, not overly loud and no resonance (unlike the aftermarket models). I would highly receommend this unit to anyone wishing to give their car some real Porsche sound. Did it myself in the garage with basic tools; the clamps even came off quite easily (car had 9k miles on it when performed).
