You will need to wire in new connectors for the cluster, that is correct. There is also some other wiring additions that are made, depending on the year of the car.
Todd
so you used the original pre facelift wiring loom with a post facelift cluster did you cut the connectors from a post loom and wire them into the pre loom
-
are you changing the interior wiring loom as well cause i thought that the clusters pre/post clusters do not have the same connections
-
Hi everyone
what year cars was PSM introduced and can it be retro fitted
i understand it will be hard and expensive but if you wanted to do it can it be done and what would need to be changed

You need to test with the fender liner off so you can see where the leak is.
The two option left are the motor and the tubing.
Of course if you have headlight washers that adds three more options...
yes i have headlight washers the water seems to come from the left side i also am quite sure it is from infront of the wheel but im not 100% sure

i have a leak and i don't know where
i fill the washer bottle up and within two days the light is back on even if i haven't used it.
i have replaced the washer bottle and the same thing. i think one of the pumps is leaking but can't be sure
any one had the same problem and can shed some light on it.

Hi guys,
I have been managing to check up on this site and fix things myself so far when needed but I needed help on it now.
1) My speed sensor has become faulty. My kms and tripmeter sometimes don't run while car is running. According to a tech, it is a faulty speed sensor and that I should check the connections to make sure enough voltage is going through the wires. Anyone have a diagram of the speed sensor location, I see one on a 996 on this site but it shows speed sensor on the wheels, is that correct, isn't speed sensor usually on the tranny? Anyways, if you can also identify which one is positive wire and which one is negative or if you have a wiring diagram as well, that would be excellent.
2) Since I have purchased my car (private sale), the windshield wiper fluid doesn't dispense the fluid but the headlights do dispense the fluid. Do they use a seperate mechanism/motor for the lights and the windshield. Again, if someone has DIY instructions on what to look for and what part to replace for the windshield washer motor, that would be of great help.
BTW, it's an 04 boxster.
thanks in advance for all your help/inputs.
hi i know it has been sometime since you posted this but the answer you are looking for is that yes they have two seperate motors on the washer bottle it is in the passenger front wing (on english cars might be different abroad) and you probably just need to replace it they are available at most car repair shops.
don't know about the speed sensor though got to be on the gearbox somewhere but it could be a fault withthe instrument cluster take it to a dealer and get thm to read the error codes just to be sure

Just to add my 2 cents worth: pretty much every enigne in the world rotates in the same direction except for 1990s and earlier Honda 4-cylinder engines. They finally caved and now their four cylinders rotate in the same direction as everyone elses.
Interesting about the boring of the 2.5L up to 3.8L. Same block so it makes sense. Would be easier than a transplant for sure. Any idea on exact price and if anyone in the US is doing it?
bump on this question, i dont see why it cant be done i'v had a couple of 1600cc vw motors built to 2332cc's and they have been very dependable and very strong motors
This doesn't necessarily answer your question:
I think there are other differences other than 'just' the bore and stroke between the various 2.5 / 2.7 / 3.2 / 3.4 / 3.6 / 3.8 units.
there was an article on this in porsche world magazine which said that all the engines are essentially the same apart from bore and stroke oh and wiring Egas etc but the core engine is the same

For safety (legal) reasons you can not turn off an airbag light by disconnecting the battery.
You will need the Durametric Software, or a PST2 or a PIWIS tester to turn off the airbag light.
Where are you located? Perhaps there is a member close to your location that can do this for you.
in the uk essex i have considered investing in the diagnosis software though how much is it and where can you get it

while replacing the driverside window after it smashed i diconnected the side airbag now the airbag light is on the cluster and won't go off i have disconnected the battery for a sizable time but it won't go off has anyone got any ideas

I just called TRW and they say they dont have any aftermarket listings for Porsche boxster, No bearing cartridge at all.
i replaced some bearings in the pulleys on my engine from a shop that specialise in just bearings if i had all the measurements or the bearing the self i should be able to get them i to have a knocking noise from the suspension i will look at mine and see if i can get the bearing.
i also have a random knock which i thought were the wire ties that hold down the roof. my noise comes from the left rear

-
hi everyone
i have had my boxster 2.5 for a year now and it is time to modify it my plans include a 3.4 conversion but at the moment i am working on converting it to a tiptronic. this all started when i saw a tip gearbox online cheap and has now been spurred on by clutch problems so instead of replacing the clutch i am going to convert to tip.
i have already
gearbox
torque converter
gear selector
brake pedal
i need (as far as i know)
wiring loom + 2 tip ecu's
cluster
steering wheel
my question is is there anything else i need i.e flywheel and does anyone have any advise other than sell the car and buy a tip. so far i have only spent £200 pounds

I usually don't push my 996 hard but have opened her up probably 4-5 times. Over the weekend, I banged out 1st and 2nd gear and there was something different this time. From around 6-7K, the acceleration would start to break up a bit. Anyone have an idea what may be causing this? It's an 02 with 30K miles...Thanks!
have you checked the AFM

SOrry guys, thats not what i mean, My issue is that the Passenger window wont roll UP when 1 touch. The driverside does 1 touch up and down, and the passenger side does 1 touch down but not up.
If the passengerside is also suppose to have 1 touch UP, let me know please.
yes it should have one touch up and down sometimes it does stops working on mine and with the instructions above starts working again
if it still doesn't work after following the instructions then it will be something electrical
-
thas great cheers
-
the light doesn't stay on and it hasn't come on again
-
so if you wanted to do it you would have to replace the whole loom do you know wether the boxster loom is all one thing or does it come in segments i am planning on upgrading to tiptronic as i have picked up the box cheap and when i replace the loom im considering replacing it with a 2003 one as there is one available locally
