I got my car back from the wreckers and they put 40 in the back and 36 in the front, running Yokohama 17 inch on stock 986 wheels.  Might be riding a tad stiff.

Given the remarkable performance of the car in snow I have decided to purchase some roof bars and ski racks and I am now having some troubles in installing them.

 

I bought a set of OEM bars which were never fitted by the previous owner and which I have installed with no hassle. The ski carrier, which I believe is part 95504400024, came with no box nor fitting instructions, and I can't figure out how to properly secure it to the bars. 

 

The ski carrier is fastened to the bar by the means of two metal plates, which slide in the bar and, I suppose, need to be tightened once in place. The external plate can be fastened by tightening the internal bolt with the supplied allen key, while the one on the other side can only be fastened by turning the plate itself, as the internal bolt is integral with the ski carrier.  

 

I have tried to slide the carrier in with the internal bolt as tight as possible, however, even after tightening the allen bolt, the carrier doesn't seem to be as tight as it should. The previous owner cannot help as he claims the carriers belonged to his late dad and the local Porsche dealer has no clue as he claims it is too old...

 

Anyone who has experience with these ski holders? Thanks in advance for any help!

do me a huge favor after you get this fastened, make sure the ski tips are at the back, might save you... 

this might be a bit of a noob situation.  my drivers seat doesn't go up and down when i pull up on lever A - also lever A only goes up not down - do i need to do something different before i take it apart?

To program a key you need:

- all the current keys to the car

- the car

- your cars IPAS codes (obtainable from any Porsche dealer with proof of ownership)

- Porsche PST2 (for older cars) or Porsche PIWIS for newer cars

whats proof of owner ship the registration or do you need the title?

Thank you so much Loren for your advice. I will look into it. Just to add the led on the works fine each time I press the button. It blinks red. Could be the problem be still in the key nothing in the car?

My 986 key is doing the same thing, i haven't looks at the codes yet... but i suspect its time for a key and a trip to the dealer.
