Ooops it looks like Loren posted the wrong picture. That is a picture of the condenser. The desiccator basically acts as the drier for the refrigerant.
Anyhow replacing the evaporator is is a serious beast of a job. Probably the worst thing I've ever had to do on a Cayenne. The evaporator is sandwiched inside the heating and air conditioning unit behind the dashboard on the passenger side. If you want to see the innards of a Cayenne, replace the evaporator. Thankfully they very rarely fail. You may want to consider replacing the Orings on both sides of the expansion valve as I've seen a leaking o ring there that looked a lot like a bad evaporator. See how it goes from there, it could save you a SERIOUS headache.
Hi if you can could you tell me location of th expansion valve. I did find some oil residue in the smaller pipe that goes in the firewall i was able to give half a turn to the bolt. I pull vacum to 29 in 10 minutes and it held. I will check the o rings you suggested as soon as i could find the valve. Thanks a bunch.

Hi could you tell me the location of the expansion valve?
-
we could smell the freon inside i am afraid is going to be it My mechanic suggested a two formula sealer maybe that will work. i have nothing to loooooose
-
First Thank you very much. I have a leak in the evaporator inside the car it takes about 2 weeks to leak the freon
-
Hi does anyone know the part number for the evaporator core for 2004 cayenne s. also is the vw toureg the same part? do you if the cayenne has one or two evaporators. also location of the instructions or diagram on how to change the evaporator thank you.
-
Why do you think it's at fault that you need to change it?
Hissing sound from the part blue smoke on start up makes terrible noise on start up missfires codes reads intake leak none found
-
Cylinder bank 2 (cyl. 5), opposite position of oil filler cap.
Thanks how do you change it and what is the part number
-
can any one tell me the location of the oil separator for 2004 cayenne v8 s
-
Sorry, if you can't see anything obvious it could be a time cracked hose somewhere and only a PIWIS will help diagnose where.
Thanks a friend suggested the oil separator do you know a quick test. He suggested taking the oil cap and checking for suction I did and it suck my palm very strong like a vacum cleaner
This is a Cayenne not a 9x6 series car.
this a cayenne s if you look a v8 turbo diagram for 2007 the parts shows in the diagram as oil separator

I think you need to find a shop with a PIWIS tester and a knowledgeable Porsche tech.
Thank you in my town no porsche tech have to travel about 80 miles for a dealer

P1182 Positive Crankcase Ventilation Output Stage – Open Circuit
Possible causes:
- Fuse F50 faulty (fuse carrier, dashboard, on the left)
- Break in wiring in voltage supply of positive crankcase ventilation heater
- Break in wiring in connection to ground of positive crankcase ventilation heater
- Positive crankcase ventilation heater faulty (heating resistance too high)
- DME control module faulty
P0507 Idle Air Control at Stop - Above Limit
Possible causes:
- Leaks in intake air system
- Leaks in crankcase ventilation
- Throttle adjusting unit faulty
P0021 Adjustment of Inlet Camshaft in relation to Crankshaft, Bank 2 – Signal Implausible
Possible causes:
- Dirt in oil circuit
- Sealing strips on inlet camshaft adjuster faulty
- Oil pressure too low
- Mechanical fault in inlet camshaft adjuster
- Magnetic hydraulic valve fault
P2187 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 (RKAT1) - Above Limit
Possible causes:
- Incorrect main charge signal
- Intake air system leaking
- Fuel pressure too low
- Volume supply of fuel pump too low
- Mechanical fault in injection valves
- PCV valve leaks
- Cap of oil filler neck leaking
- Leaks in exhaust system
- EVAP canister purge valve mechanically faulty (hangs open)
- EVAP canister purge valve output stage faults
P2189 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 (RKAT2) - Above Limit
Possible causes:
- Incorrect main charge signal
- Intake air system leaking
- Fuel pressure too low
- Volume supply of fuel pump too low
- Mechanical fault in injection valves
- PCV valve leaks
- Cap of oil filler neck leaking
- Leaks in exhaust system
- EVAP canister purge valve mechanically faulty (hangs open)
- EVAP canister purge valve output stage faults
The pattern here still says PVC or other air leaks.
Look for cracked, broken, or split tubing and hoses.
If you can not find anything you will likely need a PIWIS tester to track down the exact cause.
Hi Loren i check the fuses and also for broken hoses nothing could the oil separator be the problem does the v8 ave a aos do you know the location you are correct the first code will set of the others

2004 s 4.5 v8 61000 miles
Ignore the diagram above then - it was for a V6 Cayenne.
That part is still the crankcase bleeding but I am not finding it in the parts system.
Perhaps you should email or call the folks at Sunset Imports.
Hi Loren question can that part be cover under emission warranty?
Maybe, you need to ask your dealer/OPC.
Hi Loren now i am getting codes 1182,0507,0021,2187,2189 can you guide me on what to check the first one pcv do you know the location?

Here are some nice all around tires
Nitto ???? Grappler? What size?
285/60/18 they fit just right no abnormal noises nice ride a huge improvement the junk continental $800.00 discount tires
You apparently didn't see the questions marks? ???
Yes, these are the nitto "dune grappler" and are not the best all around tire at all (no offense). they are great on sand but not so great in mud or in rain and would be horrible in snow with the strange blocks and zero siping - when compared to either the nitto terra grappler or the bfg at ko, both of which look better and are more appropriate on the cayenne. the terra will be wider and therefor probably look the best and have a wider contact patch. you can't beat the durability and overall goodness in the bfg though. I have used all of them.
Here in florida we have mostly sand very little mud no complaints in the rain so far next time i will give the terra a chance

It depends on the type of failure. There is a control module located in each fan assembly and the DME sends info to the control for variable speeds. The coolant temp sensor can cause problems and has been updated to a new part number. What is happening to your fans??
Runs hot standing still the fans dont seen to run on high speeds as soon as the truck moves temp goes down with the ac on the turn slow no codes so far
-
I don't think there is a relay - I think it is solid state and in the fan motor housing.
The schematic shows only control from the DME.
since the fan are dme control if they fail will you get a code?

I plan on using my 2004 Cayenne turbo off road with a set of 18'' wheels. I was wondering if anyone knows what the tallest and widest tire I can put on with no rubbing in low position? Not load position.. I am aware this will change my speedo but I don't care. Do you think 31x 9.5 will fit.
