It involves extensive work including changing the cylinder heads, camshafts etc. It is not an ECU and filter thing, I wouldn't like this type of jobs to be done on a retrofit basis. I'de rather wait and get it factory fitted.
I agree with you, but it is another option. Plus, I never suggested it was "just an ECU (proper term is DME) and filter thing".
The dealership does the following:
carbon fibre air filter housing
revised, race tuned camshaft & cylinder heads
different exhaust manifold
Sport exhaust
Factory warranty
381 HP
306 lb/ft torque
4.4 0-60
$18,699
The x51 doesn't use new camshafts. It re-uses the old ones.

The recommended change is at 120,000 miles/180,000 km or 12 years.
I think it is the same spec as 996 but refill after a change is 2.6 liters.
So far there have been no "Approved transmission oils" TSBs for the 997.
Thankyou Loren. Appreciated.

Hi Loren, I wonder if you can help?
I've been searching the forum, including TSB's and cannot find the rveccomended manual gearbox oils for the 997.
Is it the same as the 996?
I wanted to change mine today.
Many thanks

Hi Loren I wonder if you can help me?
Do you have access to porsche workshop manuals?
I need two procedures if possible.
workshop manual 272219 Removing and installing three-phase generator, and
workshop manual 873419 Removing and installing air-conditioning compressor.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi,
I'd like to change the speakers in my 997. I have the standard system (no Bose).
Does anyone know the sizes of the standard speakers?
Also are there any good makes that will fit straight in?
Many thanks
