  1. Hi all-- Anyone know what the wear limits are for MY2000 Boxster S drilled disks? Brake service light came on, and I am ready to pick up the pads, but I'd only want to get new disks if they are needed. Thanks! -Rick PS: when it rains, it pours...Pre-cat air sensor, Front engine mount, AND driver inner CV boot are all on my hit list this week as well...glad I love my car, though ;-)
  2. Good question...I was hoping to make use of a few of a few of these DIYs, too :/ I need to redo one of my rear CV boots, Engine mount, and now, it would seem, MAF and pre-cat O2 sensor. Fun! :) -R.
  3. Yes, it is. The only reason I know is because I just broke mine yesterday. Be extremely careful. I'd recommend going to the dealer and getting a spare "just in case" because breakage often happens with this plug. I can't believe, in all honesty, that so many other things are done right, but your car can be crippled because some moron wanted to save 12 cents on a plug by making it out of plastic rather than steel... Be aware: I had a hell of a time getting one from my local Porsche dealer...he kept insisting that wasn't from a Boxster radator, but from a 944. Just out of curiosity....2000 S-type? -Rick
  4. I recently aquired a used 986-S and found that the FOBs on the keys (remote entry switches) are not working. The proximity sensors work fine (i.e. I can start the car), but opening / unlocking the trunk/doors with the remote in the end of the key does not work. I've replaced the batteries in both keys and disconnected/reset the electical system at the car's main battery. One gentleman I spoke with said the fix would either involve $400 dollars, 2 new keys, and a dealer, -or- Talking to Porsche and getting the keycodes based on the vin, plugging into the computer with a PST2, and placing candles around the car under a full moon. Any other thoughts? Thanks in advance. -Rick
