Just tested it with key turned to on (before start) and engine cold the gauge indicated about 3.
Sounds like it is time to replace the sending unit.
Thanks.

What is considered normal behavior (indications) oil pressure gauge?
I am a new 2006 C2S owner and the oil pressure seems to be pinned at 5 once I start the engine.
I have seen it drop to 3 when coming to stop at idle BUT it doesn't seem consistent.
I will gave to go back and check - have not noticed the indication with just electric.
It seems strange that normal (constant speed) driving would have it pinned at top of gauge

Is this common? A battery replacement should NOT require a trip to the dealer or mechanic - for any car.
