Thanks so much; do you know what the tube is for?I just noticed a rattle coming from the rear deck area inside the car, my girlfriend sat in the rear torture chamber seats while I drove and she thinks it's coming from the psngr side, in the very back corner of the rear deck. I removed the small carpeted panel that's just below the rear window and nothing is back there. The rattle sounds like something is dangling/hanging loosely hitting against something metallic. Very slight bumps will cause the rattle and harsh bumps don't really seem to affect it much more. What's just below the large flat part of the carpeted rear deck and how is it removed? Anyone else have this rattle and or fix? ThanksI had the same problem. Put your fingers through the C-pillar seatbelt outlet and towards the roof. You should feel a plastic tube hanging loose. Take it to the dealer. They should be able to fix it. They will need to R/I the C-pillar trim which requires R/I of rearside trim panel. Also, ask them to replace all fastening clamps of any R/I panel, otherwise you may get a new rattle after intallation. If you decide to do it yourself and break a panel the replacement will take at least two weeks to arrive in the US. The cost of the C-pillar trim is $75.
Also here's a new noise I've got  I noticed when I make sharp quick left turns I am hearing something scraping/squeaking coming from the back of the car. Its a light metal against metal sound and it sounds like its moves back and forth due to the forces of the car making the turn (suspension bushing out of place, trans or motor mount loose?).

Opps, it's a hex head, I was using a torx head (T-40 in the larger opening of the bolt). There appears to be two openings on the head of the bolt a small and larger one, is it just the larger one that need to be unscrewed?
tnx

Loren:
I'm having trouble figuring how to remove the stop/latch that the rear seats lock onto which is bolted into the side panel and must be removed for access; the manual says to unsrew the locking pins but I tried with a torx wrench and it does not budge. I'm sure it has something to do with the small "locking pin" inside.
Thanks

They say it's newly revised as of Dec 06 but the pics look like they were drawn buy someone graduating from a match book cover art correspondence school. It appears the rear seat belt retractors are rattling on both sides as you just have to tap on them to get them to rattle but they are installed tightly; ould be the internal spring mechanism? I found a large piece of sound absorbing material was crushed and not in its proper place which I corrected immediately. I now need to remove the lower rear C pillar panels to get the best access now that all the carpeting/covers are out. I really feel for the Porsche techs as there's such little and uncomforatble room to work within.I hope it is more complete than the copy I have... -
I just tracked down the Porsche tech site and bought the interior workshop book..$110 + tax...I guess nothing Porsche sells is cheap  . Now hopefully I can track down this **** rattle. Thanks again you've been most kind.Have you done a search? Most of this is the same as the 996...

Thanks Loren. Do you have the instructions to remove the lower piece as I'd like a look back there as well please? Are the workshop manuals readily availble for the 997 at the local delaership or even on-line, or are they only sold to professionals?Yes, pull down towards the inside of the car. -
This piece?
If so, this is the C pillar item 3 in the diagram above.
Yes, thanks. Does it remove by just pulling it out?
-
Yes its a coupe; where's the piece(s) that goes around the side rear window(s)? I can't seem to find it in the diagram. Also are these pieces just held in with clips and meant to be pulled out? Thanks! Is this a coupe? If so, that is all the rear linings.

Can someone please tell me the proper way to remove the rear interior upper and lower side plastic panels. Thanks in advance!

1. With a screwdriver through the top air slot, release the left and right retaining clip A and pull the air vent out of the dashboard.
2. Pull apart the electrical plug connections and remove the air vent.
Installation is plug the electrical connections back in - push vent into dash until it snaps in place.
Many thanks to you!

How does the center AC vent module come out? I have a nasty rattle back there I want to have a closer look at.
Thanks

If someone has the January 07 lease money factors and residuals I'd be most appreciative.
Thanks :)

I have a 2006 C4S coupe (6 speed, US) with a little over 5000 miles and have been experiencing a weird clutch phenomenon for some time now. The problem is a little hard describe without actually driving the car, but I will obviously do my best. When the clutch is put in before shifting to a higher gear with the engine revving above about 4000 rpm, the last couple of inches of pedal travel feel very "mushy" (for a lack of a better term). It almost feels like a vibration, and only occurs when the clutch is put in all the way and only for the last bit of travel. At first, I thought I was failing to come off the accelerator completely before making a quick upshift, but I have noticed that this certainly is not the case - even when I am completely off the gas (for a second or two even), the clutch sensation still exists. The problem only happens when the car is being driven (the clutch feels perfect when sitting in the car with the engine off) and the engine above about 3800 rpm- it is most pronounced at 4500 or higher and when shifting to 3rd or 4th gear. It cannot be felt during downshifts, etc. and rarely if ever at low rpm upshifts. The car can be either warm or cold, although I am very easy on it when it is warming up, rarely revving it over 3500 until the oil temp has been at 200*C for a while. The car has Sport Chrono and Sports Exhaust - I notice the clutch sensation regardless of whether or not it is in Sport mode. I am fairly easy on the 911 in general - it was broken in well and I am always careful to warm it up thoroughly (it also rarely idles). An interim oil/ filter has already been performed (@ 5000 mi instead of the recommended 20,000 mi). Oil/ filter from now on will be performed at 2500 mi intervals. I am the only owner, and delivery of the car was in December of 2005.
I realize that a lot of these details are not vital to understanding the problem - just trying to give as much background as possible. Apologies for the lengthy description. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, especially since the dealer here has not found anything wrong (although I wonder if they've driven it hard enough to even notice it).
Thank you all in advance!
I just bought an 07S an have had the clucth pedal vibration from the very first minute driving the car (it had 10 miles @ delivery);this is somewhat of a common problem with some newer Porsches. I had the exact same thing happen on a new 01 as well and others on the rennlist forum have repoted the same thing http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/show...ad.php?t=205460. I was recently told by a large Porsche dealership's shop foreman, that it is the clutch fingers not being even and it should go away after/during break-in (at least in my case since it been there since new) If you did not notice this issue when new, you may have a different probelm. I'd bring it in for service and get the shop foreman involved, please report back his findings. Hope this helps.

What are the latest Porsche Credit money factors, or where can I find them.
Also any other sources for better rates?
Thanks!

:lightbulb: Had this happen on a 2004 MB 500 I used to own, it was the A/C compressor leaking oil into the evaporator and over time it created a film in the vents causing the oily odor.

After 40 years of lust, I have finally ordered a C2S six speed. The dealer called me today and said that the sport shifter is no longer available. Has this become a dealer installed part? It made such a difference in the cars I test drove that it seems inconceivable that they would just discontinue it.
Thanks
I recently drove two six speed cars back to back, one with and one without and honestly found very little difference between the two. I actually had the sport shift already ordered and would have been able to still get it but when I found the new twin turbo forged rims were available I changed my order and lost the shifter (once a change was made the computer deletes the pre ordered sport shift) but got the rims. Yes the dealer can install the part if you wish.

You're kidding right?? Maybe if the next dealer says no he can call in the factory rep.... :rolleyes:Sounds like excessive wear in a 1-2 yr car. You should be able to get it under warranty. If not, try another dealer.
New Rattle could use some help.
