  1. It's sorted!

I couldn't work out what you guys were on about ref the plastic on the side of the Becker, found that & then the contact on the radio sleeve hiding behind the bracket. Taped it up & silence resumes :D I think as the radio was half in last night it was a loose contact at that point on the side of the radio.

    Thanks for the support.

  2. Many thanks for the speedy reply but I can't find a wiring diagram and.... alarm went off 3 times in the night! Wife not happy.... this is going to cost me chocolate & flowers B)

Ahh looked around & found another thread, Brown with blue stripe I see. Mine is a 2000 Boxster S if that makes a difference. An down side to just cutting the wire?

And... the brown/blue stripe wire is in the multiplug leading off into the loom not attached to the cradle.... is it this one?

    Thanks again.

  3. Wotcha Guys.

Swopped my 3.2 targa for a 986 Boxster & love the car... however.... changing the stereo has caused the horn to sound when I lock the car. Tried removing the mount & read about the anti theft thing but don't under stand....

Please help...looks like something going to ground but can't work it out.

  4. I have waited since July last year for the Gateway unit... and it still isn't out in the UK!

In theory you can fit either of the units wherever there is a junction for the fibre optic. In the offside rear of the Cayenne (in the UK cars) is the loop for the CD changer, it could go here.. or even under the seat where the SAT NAV is. I put mine under the dash as I didn't want to go in the boot everytime to get my IPOD out.

  5. Just answered a question from a member ref the NAVTV unit... so thought this may help.

I don't have the instructions on email but here is the user guide.

    http://www.nav-tv.com/download/porsche/OPiP_User.pdf

Not hard to do ... but it does take a bit of time. I have a TV / audio business so I understand how electronics work but installation isn't for the faint hearted.

    Remove PCM.

Remove fibre optic link & insert supplied patch cable, observing in / out markings. Cut back the loom wrap behind the stereo, (this is when I nicked the optic cable) otherwise the optic in the car is too short to let you place the NAV TV box.

Locate NAV TV unit within short distance of PCM . (I put it on top of the glovebox)

Connect 12v permanent feed & ground (12v Socket in the passenger footwell)

Find suitable place for IPOD, I have out mine in the glovebox but not yet drilled the hole for the cable. Removing the glovebox is a pain in the arse as you have to remove the trim across the top of the dash.

    Plug & go... enjoy...:)

It does have some bugs in the software.

Won't always start playing a track again when you have used the phone so you have to jump forward or back a track, takes a while to scroll through the lists... but I do have around 250-300 albums on my Ipod.

Always starts after an overnight stop with the same album... ABBA in my case... you get used to it.

Considering how complicated the Porsche optic system is I think it does a good job & bear in mind it has taken them over 3 years to get it to work, to my knowledge no other system lets you browse ALL of the albums, artists etc on your IPOD.

The sound is FANTASTIC, 20 x better than the RF modulator I had before.

    Regards

  6. Actually I did go through the TSB files and but stupidly I passed on those since it just said "replace" and I assumed it would say something like "Repair Piece of Crap Non-Functional Wipers that were an Afterthought" TSB :)

Time to go actually read them.

Ron....the blades have done this since new and have had the Pepper for a year.

Had mine changed under warranty at the last service FOC

Amazing... Porsche gave me something fo FREE.

  7. £350 UK pounds is the UK list price, they gave me some discount as I am a TV / Audio dealer. Got it direct from NAV TV UK. Works very very well... a few software bugs but nothing you can't live with. I am that impressed that I want to get one for our Touran but they don't make a VW interface. Looked at the Dension gatewaty & that is limited to five playlists... no good.... I have 3000 + tunes on my Ipod..

  8. BMW had a problem with their first 3.0l V8 units in the UK in the late 90s. High sulpher in the fuel here cased premature bore wear & caused a misfire, they quietly exchanged all afftected engines in or out of warrenty if they had the fault. Mine was dome at 60k miles & well out of warrenty. It was good customer PR & stopped people jumping up & down & going to the press. If my Porky needed a new engine at 70k I would be very unhappy. Don't let them win... give em hell!

  9. Thanks for the info guys... it is now sorted.

Take 1 x lollipop stick, remove lolly, cut back broken fibre on both ends, insert each end into hollow lolly stick until they touch, tape up, test & thank your lucky stars that the car isn't in to Porsche for a VERY expensive repair. I would like to take credit for this but it was the guys at Nav TV Uk who advised the fix.... it's been done before!

The Ipod interface works really well & the sound quality is fantastic with full control over the Ipod. Highly recomended.

    Thanks again.

  10. Hi all...

I have just picked up a pair of geninue iluminated sil trims from a wreck. I have looked at the relevent TSB & it advises removing the door trim & doing loads of wiring....

Therefore if I may be so bold....

Has anyone retro fitted these themselves?

Do you really have to remove the door trim or can you just splice into the footwell power / switching?

Can you print out the TSB pdf? My Apple mac refuses to do so.

For reference it is a 2005 Cayenne S UK model.

    Many thanks in advance.

  11. Be gentle with me guys... it's my first post here. :D

Just realised my dream with my first Porky... 05 Cayenne S tip, I need to upgrade a few things & high on the list is some entertainment for the little people in the back. Has anyone had any experience with these.

    http://www.vizualogic.com/headrest_prod/he...t_overview.html

A company in the Uk imports them but I can't find anyone who has them & they not exactly cheap.

    Thanks in advance.
