Concerning tire fitment, while I have not tested 18-40-245 (front) I am not sure it will clear the forward portion of the 986 fender well near full lock. It will be close, and depends on offset you choose. Adding spacers (effectively reducing offset) will make it harder to clear forward wall of fender well. I can tell you that 18-40-255 (slightly larger diameter and slightly wider than 18-40-245) will not fit (tested with slightly lower offset than OEM), while 18-255-35 will fit (for at least the two tires I tried), as will 17-40-245. Again referring to the front. When it’s close differences between tires can also be important. Check specs at tire website.
Concerning rear, had to edit my comment because I’ve never run a tire with that diameter, which is 1.6” larger than what I currently run (on Yokohama A052). It might fit if offset is appropriate, but I am not sure.
