Hi,
My friend just had his rotors replaced. He used yellow race pads
and did a lot of track events. He had some cracks between holes.
He said you can chamfer the holes to reduce squeaking. Does anyone
have any other feed back on this?
Does anyone know what the mike settings are for new and for replacing
the rotors?
I am thinking of getting thicker pad greese to stop the squeaks. Once the
wheel is off, I will mike the rotors.

I now wish I would have driven it. There was snow on the ground and didn't even think twice about it being a demo, I guess I should have. I know that proper break-in is good, but I have also been told that Porsche engines are put through some passes before they are even put in the car. It is hard for me to believe that these engines are so sensitive.
Hi,
If you are this worried I would take the car to the dealer and have
him print out a 20 page report for your car. This report
will tell you the time and day when the car reached the rev limitier.

Hi,
My brother just had a 20 page detail on his car history. The
report showed how many times he started the car from 1st. 2nd,
or 3rd gear. It told him the amount of times he hit the rev. limiter. It
told him everything except the top speed. He has a vacum leak and
it told them what side of the motor to look at. Is there any product
out there that will tell what your car has done?

Hi,
Last night I ran a hard wire down one of the tubes betwwe the battery and the front fire wall.
Clean out the dust and leaves that were in it. I like the deodorizer idea and plan to
try this on another car I have that has been sitting around alot.

Hi,
When the dealer gets the car they need to do something to it so
the guys unlading them from the boat do not over rev it. I would
check with the dealer to see if this car was prepared for the customer.

Hi,
Sounds like you need to spend about $150 for a digital camera. If
you check out reenlist, there is a guy with a picture with 20" tires
and lowered. Maybe a supercharger is just around your
corner.

Hi,
I just put Yokohamas on my car. They are much quiter then Michelin Pilot sport
tires. I had them at the track but it was a wet weekend so I am waiting
before I tell people if I like them for track use.

Hi,
There are a couple of drain tubes near the battery. All
of my are clear except one. I intend to run a small wire down it
some day. I would check these tubes.

Hi,
The race track guys at TRG use 18 inch tires on their race
997 cars. The 19 inch are hudge tires. I have 19 inch and
have thought about buying 18 inch for the track. Do not use
the sport button unless you are in Woodside road or on a race track.

Hi,
I like the guy who asked if you spilled any oil when you filled it up. This
is so small that you do not have much to worry about. I think you
should wait till it gets worse before you take it to the dealer. Clean it
and watch your garage floor.

Hi,
Suggest you floor it once and awhile. This is a racing motor
and it needs to breath.

Hi,
Have you looked into blue Pagrid pads. They
stop alot better then stock.

Hi,
I wave at outher cars also. I think that so many people only
drive their cars on the weekend, that they are spending to much time
re-learning all the buttons and are not looking out and enjoying
the senic view. I tend to wave at everyone. My car is
a daily drive so I get more looks. I suggest you
move to California.

Hi Loren,
You are right as usual. I knew it was on here
but I could not find it. I typed wheel scuff and wheel
repair and could not find it with the search engine.

Hi,
If you buy the clipers, you most likely will have to buy the rotors
also. I ordered front pads for the car and I had to send them
back because they were too small. I have a 997 S with red claipers
and these are larger then 997 claipers. Be careful on your
order. Painting them just might be cheaper if all you are looking for
is looks. For stopping power, I recommend you replace the stock pads with Pagrid blue
pads.

Hi,
I found this repair work description and I wanted to post it
so that I can find it someday.

Hi,
I installed 5mm spacers on my 997 S. The spacers came
with longer bolts. I would install them if you have the
longer bolts. Just adds that little bit to the handling.

Hi,
Get some blue race pads. They stop alot better
then stock pads. The blues are half street and half track.
Paul
-
Hi,
I would recommend you change the pads after about 10,000 miles
to blue race pads. They stop better then stock and they are
between street and track use.

Hi,
Does the track car have a whale tail spoiler? The spoiler package is
M473 and I am not sure if this was ordered equipment or original
equipment.

Hi,
I decided that the price was not worth the investment.

Hi,
I bought mine from Sunset imports.

Rotor Dimensions
in 997-1 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 2S, Carrera 4S)

Hi Loren,
The car is a 2006 997S coup. My car has
the big red brake calipers. I would almost assume
that the 996 rotors are the same.
Thank you again for providing this information.
