It was with the job they did above. But the light was present before any of that. I lifted the clip on the reservoir to leave the vent open and have driven it a bit like that. Would thar clear any trapped air ?

Yes thanks Loren.
NONE of these conditions are present but I still get the slow blink, despite also all of the above repair work being done. I'm stuck...

coolant level sensor was replaced
same thing Loren?

Hi,
1999 996 37K miles.
Have the slow temp light blinking condition.
Coolant level adequate
Engine compartment fan works
Engine shows no objective sign of overheating
Temperature on guage is normal around 195-200
Car performance is normal
Brought to an independent shop who I know and trust for a long time.
They pressure tested the system and felt there was a small leak in the coolant tank. They replaced the tank, cap, also did a new thermostat and coolant level sensor.
No luck. Since they could not figure it out they did not charge me at all for the job. They sent it to local Porsche who let the car sit for 3 weeks and I got fed up with that and took the car back.
Any questions or thoughts from the group??
I didn't pull or ask for the error codes I am going to use my machine to check that.
Blinking temperature light.

Thanks. Vacuum filling systems.... something I can buy and do easily myself or major equiptment I should expect a shop to have ?
Would you agree that based on above work done this is the main place to look (air trapped)? I cannot see any other reasona based on everything that was done and what I've read about the possible causes for a slow (or fast) blink
Thanks to the group
